im aware that the battery charger is of the diff volt... do i buy new local charger or just use local wire to plug in to the charger pcs...

Good choice. You may not have the camera with you for a few days, however, once NSC fixes things you'll have peace of mind.

Hi Ken, regarding that deal u got quoted. i would show you the price of my D90 and the stuffs thats quoted too. Then compare for yourself the prices, etc.
Nikon D90 (18-105mm VR) + 8 Gb SDHC card - $1680
Digicabi DB036 Dry Cabinet - $118
B+W Haze Filter (67mm) - $49
Nikon 50mm F1.8 - $175
Total - $2022

The only difference is the filter which i got is B+W otherwise, the prices are quite competitive. Conclusion, this package is worth to be considered.

1 - Tamron 28-75mm F2.8
2 - Tamron 17-50mm F2.8

And would u go for the Built-in motor or non? Heard about the non/in-built motor debate but am not sure, so would like to get reviews by fellow D90ers. Isit true that non-motor version AFs faster then those which has a motor? If i buy the non-motor version, would the price depreciate due to that?

Was really settling for the 17-50, then 28-75 pops up to me becos i would need a low-light-abled further zoom lens too. But i need the wide angle on 17-50 too. Pardon me for a noob question btw, when they say 28-75 is a constant apprt F2.8 lens, isit constant throughout the zoom till 75mm?

the 17-50 is more of a crop lens, if you slap this on a FF body, MP count would be shelve by half (12mp become 5mp)

Yes, the non motor ver would af faster then the motor version, and think if the motor were to spoil 1 day, you still need to send it for repairs.

If i were you i would go for the Tamron 17-50mm F2.8(~25-75 on FF). As i find that most of the time if i take picture with my group of friend i usually uses that range of focal length. For example over a dinning table, the distance between u and your friend is just a table length away. You dont want to shift back especially very crowded dinning area where space is limited just to get your friend in the shot.

You can also rent them for a day to try out see which 1 you prefer. Do check your past photos see which range of focal length you usually use.

I will assume you know the basic. Use the S mode instead of the A mode as your boy is running around. From what you say, I think it might be due to poor ligthing condition.

I suggest you increase you ISO value to compensate for that.

just got my D90 from Japan ... all document in Jap... Sight...
im aware that the battery charger is of the diff volt... do i buy new local charger or just use local wire to plug in to the charger pcs...

Why did you get it there??? I just got back from there and the prices are so much more than Singapore. Even then accessories are more expensive. Besides, D90 is not even made in Japan too. It's made in Thailand, even the 18-105mm Lens too.

Anyway, check the voltage for the charger. If it says 100~240 volt then all you have to do is change the plug. If not, then you'll just have to waste more money buying another charger, but at least it'll be cheaper here too.

i got the canon compact camera bat charger wire to do the work...
