If you are into this hobby for longer period, I guess you better invest in dry cabinet. I used dry box before and after few years, my camera F65 still got mouldy.

Hi guys, I've been reading this thread too, cos I'm thinking of getting a d90. The only thing that's stopping me from getting it like, right now, is the upcoming IT fair? But I do recall someone saying not to get it at the fair. Could anyone explain? It is like more expensive or like paying for freebies that I won't need? Appreciate it. And oh, I'm a noob at photography. Heh.

Initially I was like you, I delayed my purchase of the D90 bcoz was thinking of waiting for the upcoming IT fair to compare the prices. but i found out not only from the forumers here, but also from my friends that in the IT fair the prices would be almost the same as the retail price (around 1700-1800) and they would just be adding in worthless freebies that you don't really need.

My advice is to have a clear mind and be sure of just what you'll need. Since you're a noob in photography, just get the basic essentials first. When you get better, then you can purchase the extra equipment that you'll need to further your knowledge and skills.

hi.. ok get what you mean... so.. the essentials are... camera body + kit lens, battery, memory card, filter? dry cabinet? cleaning kit? *deep breath in.. anything else? =)

For now you can stick with your in-camera flash. If you think that you'll need an external flash, you can get it later. It depends on your preferred style of lighting. Some prefer flash, others prefer ambient (natural) lighting.

For a newbie, a 30L drycab will cost $110-120 http://www.digihub.com.sg/ProductList.aspx?Bg=2&ProductID=110
But if you're planning to purchase more lenses in the future, then might as well get a bigger one

For UV filters, there are lots of sizes (58mm, 67mm etc) right? Which one is compatible with the D90 or is it all sizes can be used on it?

D90 18-105 mm lens uses 67mm UV Filter

filter is see the Lens size one. for the D90 Kit Lens is 67mm
