AF speed i believe depends on many factors, like your AF modes, your shooting mode settings, your lens and of course your body. End of day, if you can detect difference of miliiseconds, then it matters. If your AF takes many attempts or takes a long time, its prob the lens or your settings.

I did test a D90 last night at John 3:16, the focusing speed was quite slow for the kit lens, fitst impressions were "Is this lens even focusing" then I noticed its focusing but very slow. Other lens were snappy and fast! May be its the kit lens that has a weaker focusing motor! :dunno:
