What I meant is most of the time I go out I mount either 50mm or 30mm..

Looking at longer reach esp when I go to zoo or outings..

then maybe this will be good? AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f2.8G ED VR II

hahaha i at 1st wanted to suggest this, but because he say shoot in zoo (i assume as singapore zoo) thus i down the mm to 300 scare wait only "zoom" in on tiger mouth only.

I thought he wanted to photograph the tiger's..... erm.... y'know...

hehehehe I was about to say eyeballs.... but yours takes the cake :D

anyway back to the D90...
I tried programming my 'Fn' button to open up my recent menu settings, but then it doesn't seem to work. I press the 'Fn' button when in shooting mode, and nothing happens. Was worried that button spoilt, but then I tried configuring it to activate spot metering, and it works. When I press the Fn button, I can see the metering mode change to spot metering.
I probably can find it by reading the manual... (:D) but feeling lazy now.

edit: According to KRW, the Fn button can be configured (in menu f3) to "top item in my menu". So I presumed that when I press the Fn button (appropriately configured, of course), the menu should appear... but it doesn't

Eyeballs still can lah... bak-sai lor :bsmilie: I think I can hear the fleas talking to themselves: "hey, lets go hang out at the bak-sai club! Free drinks for the ladies! Woohoo!"

Haven't used the Fn button yet... But I think it can only be used to recall certain specific functions, not all... Gotta go back to the manual to read again. Me hor, only have the body for only 3 to 4 months... still quite a newbie to it!

it is the my menu, not the recent menu. You have to change to display my menu and set the first item there. I set it enable auto ISO

For consumer level zooms, either 70-300 mm G or the crazy 70-200 mm VRII would suffice - me thinks. On D90, the extreme ends are 450mm and 300 mm respectively.

If you don't need low light capabilities, save the dough and go for 70-300 mm G would work jolly well already.

hmmm thanks! Will give it a try tonight :D

hi all!!

Just bought a Nikon D90 few days ago!
Hi, I maybe considering to purchase a D90. Hver I do not need those bundled items like tripod, camera bag which I already have. Besides the advertisement from Best Denki, Harvey Norman, Audio House etc, is there any retail outlets you can recommend for such a customised purchase at a reasonable price? I have heard of Cathay but always seems very crowded. Any recommendations if you have purchase yours from elsewhere besides Cathay? Thanks

can check out SLR-Revo at Funan 5th floor. They will sell you the D90 kit (with 18-105 lens and perhaps SDHC card) or the D90 body I think.
I have found their prices to be very competitive, but of course it doesn't hurt to shop around :)

No point buying from the electronics superstores, coz prices are usually higher and the bundled accessories are the kind that you wanna throw away after minimal usage! :)

got a quote from AP in SimLim for the D90 kit1 for a couple hundred below advertised price. go check it out
