Ya, I tried and its look really sharp, that's why i ask the question. Can check with you 1 more thing, That mean all the f2.8 lenses can produce sharper pictures than our kits lens??

Yes, if you're referring to those lenses like 14-24, 24-70, 70-200vrII etc... At f2.8, the lenses are already sharp! For kit lens, you usually have to stop down around 2 stops (on top of the already smaller aperture) to maximise the optical sharpness of the lens.

The price of the lenses are a good indication of the quality of the optics. Thats why a kit lens have "kit lens price".

i think the 18-105 is a cool lens to carry around.

but if u insist on getting the body alone, try Edison @ Sim Lim.

what are the mode that the majority are using? 3d? center or spot?
which is mroe accurate? i knw this is subjective..just want some consensus...

as for spot..issit link to the af spot that we choose?

does you guys turn on ADL? some site says it help in metering and some say avoid at all course..real confusing..

Depends on the lens. AF-D 50mm f/1.8 then 3D for portraits. Depends on situation also. But most of the time I choose spot, cos I shoot low light, and don't want the camera to go haywire trying to find a balance.

If you don't know what it does, you probably don't need it. But turning it off does help you get more consistent results, as there is 1 less factor to consider. But in other situations it does help to "lighten" the picture (pun intended).

No ur wrong.. brand new for 18-105 is ard 400+ if u buy separately from D90 and there's still a high demand for it in the market.

I sold mine for 380 (brand new , nv used), which offset with my D90 purchase from SLR and i also sold the 190 rezo bag that comes free with it for 45. So my D90 only cost me $1198. Does that sounds lugi to u??

I was one of those that bought body only. But that was during a time where D90 kit was sold out almost everywhere.

b) what do u set your "FUNC button" to activate?
c) any quick way to change the "AF area mode" other than going to MENU > Custom > ... ?

a) I usually set it to OFF. Turn it on sometimes when I need it, and if I intend to use JPEG. Usually when I use RAW, I leave it off. I will do my dodge and burn in PP.

b) I set the Func function to switch my AF area mode.

c) see b. So I will hold the button, and turn the back dial to select the AF area mode I desire.

I brought a new D90 KIT(No Accessories) today for 1500$ from Naranjan Race course Road(IInd shop in the lane) and just registered on the Nikon Club Singapore..

But, all the manuals and stuff written in Japanese.. let me know if any want User guide in Japanese..
