CPL = circular polarizer.Hi all, I'm also a D90 user. In fact, it is my first DSLR, aside from a couple of PNS cameras during the mega-pixel race. I was patient to wait out by resorting to shooting digital photos using PNS and earlier on, film on Nikon F70 and F4. I'm pleased that my old lenses ie Tokina Pro AF 28-70mm F2.8, Nikkor AF 50mm F1.8 and AIs 105mm F1.8 are still usable on the D90. I still have an old speedlight in the form of SB-200. I wonder if the latter is still relevant given that the build-in flash of D90 is sufficient for general shooting conditions. I have a question though. I still have Marumi 77mm UV and CPL (gotta check if its linear or circular) filters from the film era (19 years old, actually). Do you suggest I use them or buy the current "digital" ones?
footnote: In those days, these lenses were made in Japan, even the caps!
Go to Nikon website and follow instructions there.
seems like it was removed... I can't find it as well. Maybe there were bugs? Can share me the link to the Nikon firmware update? I tried to find it here:
http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13783
and didn't find anything for D90.
Mainly to do with distortion corrxtion for some Nikkor lenses. Out of the list, I only have the 35/1.8, and I don't really notice any distortion.
I believe this is the link you are looking for:

i updated the new firmware, i don't see any difference or use of it. because d90, you need to manually select the picture and edit with distortion.. i can do it using PTlens or PP.
tks for the link!I believe this is the link you are looking for:

So after applying the firmware update, you have to manually select imges that you want the camera to auto-correct? aiyoh... difficult. Might as well do it on PC.
yes... logically thinking, if they apply some correction to the file, the output should be JPG.I haven't tried this feature... maybe I'll try it with my 10-24 (10mm gets the most distortion).
The problem isn't the hassle whether doing it on-body or PC... it's more likely that they will convert it to JPEG instead of giving you back the usual NEF? Or am I wrong on this?

yeah lor... which is why there wasn't a collective "hallelujah!!!! the Saviour has come!!!" chorus when this firmware update was released :bsmilie:Then no point already, especially if you need to do PP first before distortion correction (which I'll always leave to last final steps)...
I find D3100 has "Auto distortion control" under the "shooting menu". This means it adds auto distortion and then stores which could be useful for this model because no need to do it manually. i'm not sure about other models such as d5000.
In D90 this is available only under "retouch menu". i took raw image and applied "distortion auto", it was saved as jpeg.![]()
