Hi guys, me got a early surprise christmas gift from wife....a D90 with 18-105 kit lens.
Will start playing with it soon. Will stop by often to ask questions and get advise & opinions from all pros here. ;p

Maybe i should sign up for a foundation workshop too. :D

Yeah, I usually use the ISO button together with the scroll to set the ISO. I know we can set via the menu for LV, but when in LV itself, how do I adjust it?

Bro. Sorry about the ISO thing. We tried just now. Seems like we cannot adjust the ISO in LV. :embrass:

congrats bro! you're very lucky to have a supportive wife ;)

be sure to read your manual thoroughly though, coz most of the questions you have right now that you're tempted to ask here might very well be found in it. to avoid :kok: for not reading your manual :bsmilie:

hey guys, just asking a really dumb question here... with our d90, do we need the VR in lens?

hey guys, just asking a really dumb question here... with our d90, do we need the VR in lens?

depends on your what your shooting, it has nothing to do with the camera's make or model. vr is mostly meant to allow you to hand-hold your camera in lower light situations by reducing camera shake. so if you shoot landscape on a tripod, you wont need it. if you're shooting events in dim light, then it's a life-saver. :D

VR is good to hv
basically it helps if u need to use a faster shutter speed to get better exposure without raisin the ISO too much etc etc

Are you doing a comparison with Sony and Pentax?
If so, those camera makes have implemented stabilization within the camera, by having sensor-shift compensation. Nikon and Canon still believe in lens stabilization.

So if you want stabilization, you need to buy VR (or equiv 3rd party) lenses.

Hope that answers your question.

i think you mean VR helps if you have to use a slower shutter speed to get correct exposure (i.e. dim light conditions). even if you turn on VR then use a faster shutter speed, your pictures will still come out underexposed. it only allows you to handhold your camera better, like up to 3 stops better than without VR

Don't give wrong info leh...
VR helps to stabilize the lens when slow shutter speed is used.

My D90 dropped from my tripod as I left the plate unlocked unknowingly :bheart:
No physical damage but there's no shooting info shown in the VF currently.
All the numerals in the shooting menu are shown with a symbol and the low battery indicator lights up too.

Any idea how to solve it myself before sending it to NSC?

have you try putting in a charged battery ?

have you try shooting with it again ? if yes, how is it ?

Maybe need to take out the battery and wait a while before trying again . . . :)

believe you need to bring it to NSC . . .

The circuitry boards must have been rattled pretty bad... You kinda gave it a 9.5 jolt on the richter scale. NSC hospital it is... :)
