how old is your battery? is it still the original one that came with your d90?

yes original came from d90.
abt 4mth old

tried my frd one also the same. bring to nsc the person say no prob. go downstair try to snap again, same prob again :(

if it's not the battery, probably the contacts inside the body. if you're still at nsc, best to demo to the technician even though he says no problem. btw, are you using a grip?

Your problem sounds worrying.

With the few problems cropping up in this thread today, it's almost as though the D90 "throwing tantrums" now that D7000 is coming to our shores ;)

Hopefully the 2 week wait is a conservative estimate by NSC.

No sweat, pal! Tomorrow is only our second meeting, there will be other times!!

Glad you've sorted out the Crop factor idea! :)

Ho ho ho! I hope I can join in during the third .~ hope its a weekday too!! =D

i think tis is a batt contact problem which i read somewhere else...

the contacts within the camera? Wah that one definitely need NSC help. A bit hard to access.

I don't have confidence to dismantle the D90 and assemble it back in 100% condition!

Could be your shutter button problem... best go NSC if nothing elses works... sounds like a buggy body. Don't make it any worser.

So do you guys reckon that my D90 will have to be left at NSC for long? Don't like being cameraless. :(

hard to say... depends on their backlog. I've heard of cases where they estimate 1 week, then it was ready in like 24 hours.
Sometimes they find out the problem is less severe than originally expected.
Sometimes it's worse...

~fingers crossed~

It could be a small electronic component that's buggy, causing the power circuit to have intermittent supply. really hard to say. Just guessing at this stage. I'm fairly familiar with electronics, but not DSLR electronics :)

can anyone tell me the difference between a hard cap diffuser and a built-in wide angle diffuser?

1) 'softens' the light being put out by the flash.

2) scatters the light so that it covers a wider area.

Essentially they are quite similar. Though the motive for #2 is not to soften the light, thus you see 'harder', more reflective micro-surfaces being used.

thanks. so basically they are the same just that the hard cap diffuser covers a wider area as compared to the built-in wide angle diffuser?

the hard cap diffuser is not created with the intention to spread the light and cover a wider area. In the process of 'softening' the light, I suppose some light gets scattered, but the coverage may not be so equal.

oh. so am i right to say that hard cap diffuser is better at softening than those built-in diffuser?

slightly different effect la... can't really say 'better' or not. It's all subjective. You gotta try it to see which one you prefer.

I have sent my D90 into NSC. The turn-around time will be 1.5 to 2 weeks. Now I am cameraless. Guess I can play with my lomo for the next 2 weeks.
