hi Guys,
i am planning to buy a D90 in the coming weeks. Now just window shopping for a decent prise. I visited n shop in the Junction 8, where it is quoted at SGD 1688. This incl. two 8 GB cards, Nikon Bag, Tripod, and of course the D90 with kitlens. Is this a good prise? One more thing, at this shop I have two options for the D90 Kitlens, one with 18-105mm and the other 18-55mm, both costing the same.
Please advice me on which one would be better and is the prise decent?
Thanks in advance.

Nikon has a few generic types of lenses:
1) Ai (or AiS, which is slightly newer).
- fully manual-focus.
- No electronics. Cannot meter with D90 and below.
2) AF (can auto-focus by the screw-drive from body)
- Can meter with D90 and below.
- AF.....D lenses have aperture ring.
3) AF-S
- built-in motor for auto-focus
- generally faster to AF, but not always the case
These are just broad descriptions. There are probably exceptions which I'm unaware of, but for the most part it should be right.
* someone please correct me if I've made a mistake
First of all, if you say price of 18-55 and 18-105 kit is the same, then there's something wrong. Secondly, 1688 is the RRP, so I think you were at an electrical mega store? If looking for a best price and you're paying in cash, take a look at the price guides we have here.
thank you for the quick reply.
the price of the D90 with 18-105mm is actually same as the D90 with 18-55mm at this store. Even if I wish to pick it up in any other store. Please tell me which kitlens will be good with D90?
Thanks in advance.
Erm. 18-105 for the longer reach? Tt's in my opinion.![]()

For the same price, I'd rather recommend the 18-135 (although you'll need to get the DSLR body separately as I don't think this is offered in D90 kit form). For even longer reach (but you'll lose out the wider angles) I'd recommend 55-300 (similarly priced). That's provided you like to shoot things far away... But if you like landscapes and general, 18-135 will give you more.

Agree... My old 18-135 was not as sharp as my dad's 18-105VR.Bro the 18-135 is D80's kit lens. It's IQ is not as good as the newer 18-105VR

Best Denki at Junction 8 selling D90 with 18-55 at same price as with 18-105?
Which salesman is that? I need to smack him over the head with my old golf club.
lol ... but 18-105VR seems good than 18-55VR for longer reach at same price

well, they're not the same price.
18-105VR has a 2nd hand value of about $280-310 (based on BnS selling prices)
18-55VR should be <$200. Possibly even in the low 100s.
