Hi everyone, i need help DESPERATELY.. i'm meeting someone next week to view a 2nd hand D90 from her at $1100 with kit lens, tripod, Nikon cleaning kit, full package.. it's a rarely used set with low SC and she's letting go cos she realised a DSLR is too complicated for her and she's sticking to her compact camera.. sounds like a really good deal right? but i dont know if its still worth buying if the price of a brand new set is gonna drop when the D7000 is available for sale next month.. cos the tripod isnt v impt to me so its like $1100 for 2nd hand (relatively new) D90 VS Brand New D90 @ ____ price after the launch of D7000.. do you all think the price of D90 will drop much?

D90 prices have already been dropped a couple of months back in anticipation of D7000 announcement.

It used to be sold body only for 1350 and kit 1680. Now kit is only selling at 1450.

D7000 is rumored to be offered at 1600 body only when it hits our shores next month.

If you ask me i would think that waiting for the launch of D7000 would be better. The price of D90 now is currently still dropping. Just a week back my friend got a quote from Alanphoto for 1360 for D90 kit, saying that its on offer. i believe after the launch of D7000 the price will drop further.

i think 1360 is before GST..
the cheapest quote i have asked so far is 1450 cash payment for D90 kit...

price dropping . . . :(

i think it'll continue to drop but i dont know how much it will drop by.. i got a quote from alan photo ytd and i was quoted $1370. i didnt ask if it was with GST cos i assumed it wasnt.. i thought the price dropped! do you think $1100 is a good (and worth it) price for a barely used D90 with kit lens, tripod, lens hood, cleaning kit and camera bag? Camera purchased late last yr so left with a few months warranty.. a brand new D90 with kit lens shoudnt drop below $1300 with gst right..

Last wk my friend @ MSC quoted 1450 for d90 kit. slowly but surely it will drop

Hi all,

After much deliberation, I got a D90 over the weekend. Was sorely tempted by the D7000, but in the end had to ask myself if the extra features were worth the $500+. Had to honest and admit for most of them it was more a case of want than need. So in the end I got a Sigma 30 f1.4 to accompany it, and boy is that combo sweet!

Don't think with Kit will drop to $1300 from $1450. Most $50-100 in another 2 yrs time??

@ $1100 you feel comfortable/willing to get a 2nd hand D-90 @ $1100, go ahead and welcome!! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Welcome to the Dark Side with a pinch of redness.:devil:

Went to the Kite festival ytr and found that its too bright to take good pix, espcially the bldgs. Guess its time to find-out more on filters.

For quick fix, anyone can adv? hehee :bsmilie:

Nite went maken @ Bali seafood. There, very very dim and set ISO to 1600 and the pix turn up NOISY!!!

Damn, should try ISO1600 or lesser or get a flash. Going to reading up soon.

what lens are you using? the 18-105 kit?

You may wish to set at a smaller aperture or fastest speed . . . for your kite festival. :)

The other way for dim light shooting . . .

Bro.. if you say its too bright.. you could increase your aperture speed and -ev by about 1 stop or so depending on the situation.

As for low lighting area. if its group photo. turn your ISO 800 pop up your flash set it to rear curtain and get everybody to stay still for 1sec if that is possible. At least you get the a nice background lightings and lighted faces. ^^

See what I mean by the need for good higher ISO performance? :bsmilie: I guess your best solution would be a remote flash and/or get it to bounce off from the ceiling. I'm totally against direct flash... not nice one...the image...

That's why I'm craving for f/1.2 lens... It would be the AI-S.... but but... no support from D90....

don't cry.... well, you can always get a D7000:devil:

Quite sure its the reflection that cause the 'glaring'. Or Kit lens CMI.

Read about filter that can block UV. Is UV part of this glare??

Nikon or Nissin?? Must really get flash for nite shots. 1sec?? My little girl can't even sit still for 1/2 a sec. wahahaa :bigeyes:

Seriously, ISO1600 I wun use even again on my D-90.

So D7k or those high-end camera will perform better den D-90 on high ISO? I think so ya...
