Go right to the bottom... tube cannot work with AF-S lenses, my 60mm is AF-S type. Hence that is probably the problem. I can't vouch for AF-D lenses either since I don't have any. But reading the text from the above link suggests that you need to have enough light to let AF work. Otherwise, you have to resort to manual.

Good evening guys. I'm a D90 user here. When I focus there will be red vertical and horizontal lines in the grid. This happens only when I press the shutter button. I notice this has occured recently only. I worried something is damaged. Anyone can help.

Tt happens when you focus. Did you change your option to display gridlines in viewfinder?

Krieg, i am also looking at kenko extension tube actually.
As i wanted to use my 50mm to try some micro shoot. but due to the natural of the lens the min focus is abt 45cm. thus it is still quite far to do any near shot. so was thinking of the extension would be gd to make it able to shoot nearer.

hmm AF doesnt work on kenko? thought from the web site, it is able to AF. anyway i do know that macro most ppl will be using MF, juz that i thought using AF will be slightly faster then switch over to MF and do some minor adjustment to snap the shot.

also if u dont mind, do you have a 50mm, have u trying kenko with it? thks

I'm using the uniplus 25. Just tried it again to make doubly sure... 60mm Macro would not AF with the tube, only Manual. Maybe my tube is having problems, but I've kept it pretty clean and in plastic bags all the time, the points aren't rusty. I don't have a 50mm lens at all so I can't vouch for that part, sorry.

Lawrence you can GIVE me your extension tube. I can try it out for you. Haha!

It is not multiple lines. Just one single vertical or horizontal when I focus. I can see it in the bottom part esp. From the center of the screen, to the bottom.

The white circle is what I actually see. Now I know that it's not a defect, I wonder after so long, Now is the first time i'm seeing it! :embrass:

ah gd stuff u got there, the uniplus 25. 2x magnification?
from the read, i think your tube is ok. partly yours is AFS, the 50mm is a AFD, hopefully can "work", noted on the light too.

Wait till you notice the LED lines that power the AF points... opppsss. better not say. :bigeyes:

You only see 1 of the lines, or ALL of the horizontal and vertical gridlines in your illustration picture...?
If all, then you've turned on the gridline overlay. It's in the menu to turn it on or off. If you see only one line, it may be the (almost invisible) circuitry that allows the AF point to light up.

I just saw one line. Thank you guys. I was worried because my D90 had a small fall and I thought I damaged it.

if everything works fine and it doesn't annoy you, best to leave it be...
Otherwise you send to service centre and they quote you for repair, may not be worth it.

Your turn, huh? I had this problem when my clear filter got stuck on an adaptor ring. Next time, screw it in deep enough but never to tighten. No worries, it will come off - if you keep trying. The screw threads are very tight - so if you're shooting sunset... from a warm environment (sun still up) to a cool one (when the sun sets and temperature cools), the materials will surely contract causing the situation... So if you keep trying to open, the heat from your hands, etc, etc will slowly expand the materials.

I kept trying with mine, and it finally came off...no need for oil...

The key to removing a jammed filter is even pressure. You could either use a specialised filter wrench or something like a clean rubber mat. The idea is to distribute the torque evenly, since the thread is super-fine.

since the CPL has got the rotating lens..perhaps a filter wrench might b the best solution?

can i bring back to the shop where i bought the ring & filter from? ask them to separate for me?
