Hahaha... u think getting the micro lens is all you need har? NOT enough one! Next you'll be drowned in the decisions about what flashes to get (most likely about 2 flashes at least), then brackets to hold those flashes, need R1C1 or not? Etc etc...

In every specialised genre of the photography, there will be a BBB virus waiting for you...

Btw, I'm also eyeing on the 105 Micro and R1C1... but that can wait... since I want to focus on landscaping for now...

I think for macro, the things costs more as you need more things as compared to landscapes? Correct me if I'm wrong. Soon jeezuin will buy a Markins M10 at least. Then ring flash/ directional flash liao. Then the rail for the ballhead I think...

Wait until you get comments like "wah.... why the purplish casting one?....wah this, wah that..." Then it will be SSS and then BBB... :bsmilie:

haha! TianYa 1 sell liao also dunno got ppl want or not. Mine is only a single GND not the whole set. Therefore, I'm a bit sad.

Sorry to OT abit, but would it be better to invest in a Lee system or the tian ya is enough already?

I personally feel Lee is better. Some ppl like me are budget conscious so we get TianYa. But Lee opens a lot more options. Can get the Big Stopper. Right kriegs?:bsmilie:

Each to his own... I'm just trying to poison Smiles88 :embrass: :bsmilie:

To some Tianya maybe a good starter kit... but there maybe quality issues relating to the NDs and GNDs - some weird colour casts that you'd not get from the actual scene...

Also, why some go for Lee is because Tianya covers only the 85mm... not wide enough for UWA lenses... or else you'll get some vignetting issues.

How much more expensive are the Lee filters compared to Tianya?

Strictly speaking, Lee covers 100mm squares and above - best for UWA lenses available. If you don't have a UWA...no need for Lee... Get Cokin/Tianya holder for 85mm and spend $$ on quality Hitech 85mm filters... But then hor... people who are into landscapes generally would invest in UWAs... hence why bother with 85mm? and then upgrade to 100mm?

TianYa basic bundle Tagotech sells for $75 IIRC. Lee Foundation kit is selling for about $125? Not very sure.

then I die liao lor! I already aiming for 11-16. Doesn't leave much options does it?? haha

Probably about 2 to 4 times more depending on what you get... A rough gauge only. Then again, we're probably comparing apples to oranges. Tianya's on a 85mm, Lee's on 100mm and above... we're talking about bigger filter holder, wider ring holders, and more resin/glass areas - hence the extra costs (including better quality)...

Then I guess I would need to get some Lee filters.. since I would be using that on a UWA lens.

Ahh... Okay.. Thanks :)

For this, "what you pay is what you get" is a valid phrase.

$200 zun zun... 120 for the filter holder + 80 for the 77mm UWA ring adaptor...

then I die liao lor! I already aiming for 11-16. Doesn't leave much options does it?? haha

Lol... shoot at 16mm first lor... hoping no vignetting from Tianya... Btw, you'll need a 77mm adaptor for Tianya too... Coz Tok 11-16 uses 77mm...

Slowly bro... don't rush it... it took me MONTHS to figure out which area I wanted to go into...once you go into it... focus on the things you want... For you, is it MACRO or LANDSCAPE...?

Depends you want quality ones (TK recommends Kenko - about 15 bucks a piece), or cheap cheep ones... probably about 7- 9 bucks a piece... go shop at Mass sales here... quite a lot offering. Step up hor, NOT step down or else you'll be in big trouble! But I can't vouch for quality - make sure when you screw in on (testing before buying) that the threads are not scrubbing against each other too tightly.

Like what you say... get the lens first... then everything else, slowly plan, budget and get.

You still can use the lens lah...just use it in bright sunlight and not during darkness... still can one. Test shooting for bokeh first (quality blurr, etc). Focus issues, etc... slowly you'll understand macro photography and know what you want to get next.

Same for Landscape, the advice is get the lens first (thanks Leong23), whatever-nots later, bit by bit...

Yea, thats why i'm gonna grab the lens first, then from there determine what else do i need step by step. For now i just wanna shoot more!

I think you should get a reverse adaptor. So you can reverse mount your 50mm. But DoF IIRC not very good. And of couse, you're exposing your front rear element

I wouldn't jump into it.... best do research first and read, think properly... or else it's SSS and BBB routine all over...

The thing is...once you want to try it out, you'd try the cheaper options first, then you BBB... hooked and wanting to improve, you'd want better stuff, etc, etc... Then SSS and then BBB again... Not saying you shouldn't do it, it's probably one of the ways if you're not sure you want to go very deep into it in the longer run... At least you didn't spend so much if you decide to pull out of the genre... As always think carefully.
