Any idea if there is AA battery holder for D90 other than using battery grip? Can't seem to find it online...

Thanks. Recently bought 10 eneloop batteries. Tot of finding AA batt holders to maximize the eneloops.

hi all
i own a D90 too. i have plans to do actual wedding photos. i was being advised to keep D90 since its weight is more suitable for a lady, does anyone of you tried a D700 before? is it really very heavy?

secondly, i like to invest in a zoom len for wedding shots of group photos at the wedding and also a walkabout len.. not sure which is better since D90 will produce cropped pictures.. is 24-70mm or 16-35mm better for us? i have both 50 f1.8 and 85 f1.8. which is a good combination?

thanks

I do a bit of events once in a while and i think for weddings you may need the versatility of the 16-85VR to capture the fast moving action and not to have to switch lenses too often in such situations. Although recently, i was poisoned by my 10-24 and shot an entire event using mostly that lens! I'd still keep the 50 f1.8 for some nice available light photography and the 85 f1.8 for portrait shots. Also consider the SB900 flash and you're all set. Oh, and a good comfortable slingbag of the Retrospective 30 variety helps as well.

morning brothers~

check if to see if you can control it manually on your flash and also turn down your EV on your D90.

you can consider the nissin di866, cheaper alternative

Not too sure about that. Skylover has it, he will be able to tell you : P

almost ½ the price huh..but does it yield the same performance?
performance wise. its the same.. maybe things like recharging time after a no. of cycle will be a little slower if u keep flashing all e way.

i see..~ :)

the one that i have now..takes average of 7-8secs to recharge per flash

Your flash quite manual, so I dunno if it's too complicated to use :)
I have an old Sunpak one as well (relegated to storage) that I used with my dad's old Nikon FM before. Basically the dials/switches behind are for you to inform the flash unit what sort of settings you have on your camera, and hopefully it will control the output well enough.
Forget all your auto-exposure (P,A, S modes), i-TTL stuff, because this is pre- all that.

If I were you, seriously I'd relegate that flash to storage. Don't beat a dead horse. Technology has moved the goalposts. i-TTL is really a god-send for hobbyists like us who are quite 'blur' about flash photography and how to balance flash output with ambient lighting.

I second the suggestion of Nissin Di866 as a budget alternative to SB900.
But my #1 choice is a 2nd hand SB600 for general use. It's smaller (though less powerful), but still sufficient. I got mine for well under $300.
