Any advise on how I can improve on this picture?

Im not sure where the fireworks pop up from, but from the picture, there's quite a bit of unwanted space on the right side with a bit of a building's head chopped :bsmilie:
Can try to position the view a little more towards the left

Kinda hard (I'm no expert) but the overexposed areas are wasted as it is.. Overblown that is, consider that uncorrectable since there are no info in overexposured areas. Correct me if I'm wrong here (ZCA?)?

Your view looks very WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE leh.... what lens you using?
Somehow I don't think it's 18-105... :)

Quite dramatic! Lots of fireworks in one image...
I do feel that it's a tad overexposed though...

I've got good advise from Krieg. He called me on the spot to teach me what to do, really grateful for that. I am using 18-105 len lens. I agree on the overexposure too, even though I did some PP can't help much. Maybe I'll try using -EV next time.

Actually when the fireworks ended, I came to realise that I should have put it in portrait instead of landscape then I will not have the top part cropped off.

Oi!! Please, me not qualified to be a teacher okay? Just sharing what I've experienced in the past. If I didn't experience the same thing you are going through last night, I doubt I can help you much... :embrass:

A question here? For fireworks i know that its normally taken with 2-3 sec exposure. Then at what range of aperture is it normally taken at?

I don't think this was taken with 18-105, I don't think I can achieve this angle of wideness. Cannot be panorama shot also, cause this is fireworks!

But OGL, it is a bit over-exposed. And I don't know if anyone noticed, the horizon is tilted. But to me, quite nice for a 1st attempt. maybe I should have rushed down last night.......

Yup the horizon was tilted but have to I think because I have to shoot up into the sky.

Ok edited. LOL thanks for the advise.

Due to time constrain/ the smoke in the air I got no 2nd try. Is it overly exposed?

hi
nice job there but i think it is abit over expose.
i am suspecting that your F stop is at F3.5, thus it is over expose.
u may wan to set it at F11 and adjust from there.
nice angle u got there too.

btw u can also adjust the level in the PP then it will be a master piece.

yup, good note there... try to use f/8 to f/11 to minimise overexposure.

noted on the F stop. I did not choose the angle but got no choice, super duper packed when I arrived at 1840hrs. That's the next empty slot available.

Oh, I thought you knew that already (setting lower F-stops), or else I'd have suggested that... my bad! Sorry! Singapore crowd is like that... be prepared for the next firework event. I trust you'll get better shots next time!

tell us what you don't need, and we'll try our best to make you change your mind... Heard that economy growth is plateau-ing, right? Time to boost it with spending!

QUESTION: contemplating getting ND110 (yes, again!)... I know it has warm cast, can this cast be offset using cooler K values with D90? Gawd, never knew waiting for a black piece of glass can be that unbearably long!... (still getting that though).

good question... but I can't answer you that... coz I don't have...
wait a while longer then you'll have your own answer...! :)

so where's my 10, 11, and 12mm photos? faster faster!!! :complain:
