Planning to get a D90 kit. Wondering to get it now or wait till Sitex. Wouldl it be better i.e cheaper or more freebies if I wait till Sitex.

u can generally get a better price from those usual retailers

BUT......... if u r starting from nothing, those freebies may come in handy

but buying now means u can shoot rightaway... that may mean a lot

Is Sitex coming already? I am planning to buy 1 too, but not D90, too expensive and pro for me at this stage.

its coming end of this mth. i'll probably be getting my d90 around then.

sitex pricing shd be ard RRP at 1.9K++, so if you count in the free gifts value usually would be Nikon tripod, extra 3rd party batt, extra SD card, bag.

You would be better getting from the shops recommanded in the nikon thread where pricing is about 1.6K++ and the extra $$ to get things u really need.

heard the nikon tripod as freebie and the third party battery really not worth it...

The Nikon tripod might seems big and solid, but when u deploy it, it is just a bigger version of those $20 tripod u see out there.

Lets say if u save ard 300 from buying at reputable shops, u could get original batt for ard 70 bucks, Benro tripod ard 150, SDHC card ard 35 and a lowepro bag ard 40 bucks? still have some leftover :)

oh u mean dun buy at 1988 from challenger/hv/gain city/audio house...
but go to those alan foto... etcetc
and get ard 16XX + (original batt for ard 70 bucks, Benro tripod ard 150, SDHC card ard 35 and a lowepro bag ard 40 bucks)?

well its up to you, another advantage from buying HN, courts is tht they usually offer extended warranty.

D90 rocks.. dont leave home without it...

i too recommend for those that are interested to check out neighbourhood shops 1st before heading down to sitex. for 1.9k.. its really kinda exp even if they throw in those freebies such as "weak" tripod, 3rd party battery, nikon bag, some funny brand sd card ... whatever .. COS SOONER THEN YOU KNOW, THESE WILL BE THROW INTO THE STOREROOM with not much resale value!! and you will be out there looking for much better quality stuffs.

i rather you save that 300 and add a bit more to get higher end products that you know will last a much longer time. from each his own, this is just my 5 cents

if you think that what they offer suit you then go ahead!! dun let what i put here turn you away.

Dude... You'd just have to do your homework when it comes... Generally, prices are at or around RRP. They tend to offer tonnes of freebies. That's what's been happening for the past few years now.

They can try a whole new tactic this time, or stick to the old strategy... It's anyone's guess...

Just back from H.N Jurong Pt. Sales lady there quoted me D90kit for $1620 with 4GB card. But cash payment only. Didn't try to bargain further. That's cheaper than MS, Lords and those i visited recently..

Wow, that's a pretty good price. Did you like smile very very much at the sales lady ???? Haa..... kidding ! Harvey Norman seems to be bucking the trend and giving others a run for the money..... so, it's $1620 for D90, 18-105VR lens and the 4GB SDHC ? Any other stuff ?

BTW, does the $1620 cash cover the extended insurance type warranty ? Did you ask how the insurance warranty thing works ?

heh.... itchy liao.....;p

Hi! You better check my post at the Buy/Sell for Nikon DSLR. I'm closing bid for D90 (11+ months warranty) in a few hours, or maybe when i wake up :bigeyes:

my highest bid is around S$1,638 I think, but the guy hasnt gven contact number yet. which will mean it might go to the next lower bid which is about S$1,620.00. It's an unopened bnew D90 with kit lens and some freebies, just check it out

Sitex resellers (HarveyN, Courts, etc..) confirmed selling it at S$1,980.00. This is quite a bargain already. closing the thread tomorow. save your S$200-S$300++ to accessorize your unit, makes sense

cheerios!

Hopefully the price drops soon. Otherwise i'll prob buy mine when i go overseas, apparently only cost ~$1300 for kit, only problem is body warranty must register in that country... dilemma...
