D800E User Thread

Wah bro @ avsquare

How many DSLR do you owning now?

I knew is 1Dx & D600 with D800?

I don't own much, just playing around with 2nd hand stuff mostly.. :embrass:

Lol bro Rain and Avsquare should become marketing ambassador for Nikon and Canon. I believe there are many lurkers in CS who contracted Bbb virus after seeing all your posts :) maybe should contact both companies to collect royalties :p

lol.. I don't mind if they pay me :bsmilie:

I just picked up my D800E tonight. No left focusing issue when testing in the shop, thank goodness! Opening the RAWs in ACR takes a while in my computer, an i5-750 with 16GB RAM and SSD, still manageable I think. I didn't really have time to give it a proper test run, but come this weekend I'll see what this baby is capable of.

does any one know where still have stock for D800E ? do you guys think macbook air , highest specs (i7 , 8GB Ram) can handle this beast or not ?

No problem
Youll be able to tame the beast
But you will need to manage your workflow, a week holiday in Europe / Japan would mean possible investments in tb hdd at least....

yes it is true.

digital noises.

pls turn on the Long Exposure NR (LENR) in your D800/E to counter this issue. this is the best working solution.

the drawback is that the camera will spend the same amount of time processing the foto as the time taken for the exposure.

thus, a 2mins exposure will need another 2mins or slightly less for the camera to do the LENR.

Does anyone here exposes longer than 2min?
Doesn't seem to be a very sore defect / flaw

If u do not expose longer than a min, then it doesn't affect u.

It will affect only those tat frequently do long exposures of 1 min n up, esp. those who shoot with Lee Big Stopper and equivalent.

So after some testing at home, it turned out that my D800E had a slight left-focusing issue. Before sending it to NSC today, I wandered around Tanjong Pagar with the 35mm f/1.4 AIS lens, and I'm amazed at how darn sharp this old lens is on such a demanding sensor.

Oh, what bus number is that, and what's the number plate of the car in front of it?

Plenty of leeway when bringing up shadow details.

Wait, I see air con grilles. Is there moire?

Yup there is. I don't shoot architecture often, so it's no big deal to me.

I can't wait for my D800E to come back again and resume testing with my other manual focus lenses.

Hi bro,
May I know how u test your left focus in shop?
Thanks

Finally found some time for cityscapes this morning. Sunrise was a little disappointing though. I noticed there were less smudging in the details at the edges of the frame compared to the D3 and D700. 2 shots taken with the 14-24mm f/2.8.

Hi bro,

I used my 17-35mm wide open, selected the left-most sensor and took a few test shots. I knew the lens is a bit soft wide open, so when I saw all my shots (left, center and right AF points) being roughly the same, I thought I had no issues. It was only when I got home, AF fine-tuned all my lenses and started rigorous comparisons with normal focusing and live-view focusing did I realise that I really did have the left sensor issue.

just got my d800E. may i know any recommend strap for d800e?. wanted to get a better and comfortable strap. and gss screen protector anyone know how much?
