It works. But even if you are satisfied with the in camera performance, wait till you try transferring the files from the Class 4 card to your computer. Especially when you are transferring the entire 32GB.
Actually thinking about it, if want smaller RAW files with lower resolution, it means the RAW file needs to be downsampled. Which it means it is already processed one time somewhat, so it will not be truely RAW...
My thinking is, if really cannot live with such high resolution, get the next one in line, D600. If still too large, go D4 or D3s or D700.
Just tried it, it can be used! But for such high-end cameras, we recommend class 10 because class 4 cards can slow down your system.

Definitely. No point in using a D800 class camera with a class 4 SD card, lol.
dun waste $$ on a class 4.
straight away get at least a sandisk extreme.

Don't bother with SanDisk Extreme now D:
Cos I realized, 32GB SanDisk Extreme which is a 600X CF card, it costs the same as a Lexar 32GB 800X CF card. Both slightly above $200 if bought from our local stores. SLRR sells the Lexar 800X cards. For that money, aim for the 800X if available or even 1000X if you want better.
paiseh ah, unker only uses SD cards. wahahahahahaha and the key word is 'at least'. :bsmilie:
u can say that i only trust in sandisk regardless of this speed faster than that or this brand cheaper than that. i'm a sandisk kia.
i'm comfortable with the price range, the usability, the reliability and the decency in speed.
to each his own la.
I'm pretty much a SanDisk Extreme Pro kia, but Lexar is also a reliable brand, I just think that since price is the same, might as well get the 800X instead of 600X![]()

For 1/3 (D4) or 1/4 (D3s) the file size, you can spray 3 to 4 times more than D800
Jokes aside, u can increase 118 shots of RAW file on a 32 GB card by switching from 14bit(399) to 12bit(517). Other than that, the only option left is to shoot Jpeg.
Here are my opinions from my trip to NSC to try out both D800 and D600. D800 AF is much more responsive and the controls are much better. D800 colours & details from the LCD is also better.
And my intention was to try the 17-55 2.8 with D800 crop mode. Have to get used to the viewfinder during framing when shooting at wide range 17 to 24mm. It is a very fine piece of camera for events photography.
Any Findings..
