D800 User Thread II

Finally decided to go FF and got myself a D800, 24-70mm f2.8 and 85mm 1.8G :)
Btw I already have a 32GB Scandisk Extreme pro SD card, is there a need for me to get a CF card?

how much did you pay for your D800?

Friend help to get a very special combo (D800 & 24-70) price for me so not really applicable here. Its definitely below 6K :)

Yup, definitely. If its below 5k then its something to scream at.

If u want to use both card slots. Can shoot raw+jpeg, raw in CF and jpeg in SD. SD handy because if need to do quick n dirty processing and most laptops/PCs now have SD slot.

There's another school of thought - SD for RAW and CF for JPEG. Like 64GB SD and 16GB CF - for the fact that SD is very much cheaper than CF and D800 files are damn big. So if you want to shoot RAW + full JPEG in a cheap manner, 64GB SD and 16GB CF makes sense.

The cost of a 16GB Extreme Pro CF is about the same as a 64GB Extreme Pro SD BTW.

Exact method I use.

That's true. Haha, just that I have more CF cards from previous than I have SDs. But ya, that makes great economic sense!

Gotta wonder why CF cards are so much more expensive when compared to SD cards at the higher end though...

Recently got the cam, using CF Extreme 32gb, fast enough for holidays:)

I believe CF is faster than SD in term of read/write speed.

Nice perspective you have neoro.

Hi guys,

Would like to check whether when you are shooting with bracketing mode with timer , example , 5 frames with +1 exposure ,do you encounter shoots that are not firing off ?

Sometimes there are even errosr popping out on e display and I need to power off my camera or manually firing e remaining frames...

FYI, I have done some isolation with my memory cards and lens and it seem like , it is a body issue ....
