If u know that u want/need a dslr that shoots at highest resolution currently then just go for d800 straight. Buy it shoot with it and enjoy the joy of producing 36mp images.plasticeye said:This is what i think... Technology upgrades so fast... Before 16mp is quite huge already, now we are seeing 24 mp cams...next time 36mp camera will be as normal as what 12 or 16mp cams before.

As a hobbyist, I'm guilty of buying stuff based on wants vs needs. I don't need 36mp, frankly 6mp is enough for me if I just upload 800*600 on websites. For instagram uploads, 2mp is even fine. But I know I want 36mp, so that's how I ended up with one, lol.
