D800/E or D600

As the new D600 is infront of our door now.
I'm wondering which one to go for??
My main shooting purposes is for landscape very rare portrait picture.
Which of these two camera would be more appropriate to me?:dunno:

Depends on your budget. The d800 is better in all ways except for weight and price. Weather sealing better too especially since you take landscapes maybe you climb mount himalayas or trek Nepal or Tibet this kind of places right, it's better to have a stronger cam.

If you got money, buy both so that you have double the happiness.

D800 just pay more only & nothing to said..
(Who dunno the cam is great!)

D600 just launched only and we still dunno yet, if you have compare or OT a bit can see a lots feature missing. (to compare with D800 only)

D700 still in pending stage, cause they all boring for nothing play with the latest feature.

D7000 still can consider over the D600, if you really needed new stuff of 24mp & go a head.

D300/s too old, We just stop here.

D90 has been replaced by D7000.

All in the list you might consider & which one would be suitable for you.

Thanks

My 5D classic is still working perfectly and you cannot tell the difference in a picture shot with it and a D800 way up to poster size (I think the D700 is just fine as well) ... And it can use all my nikon glass and a lot of other brands as well....(with adapters of course)...But I think the new D600 will be a very good buy at a fairly reasonable price, especially if you need FF and do not have one yet.....(of course nothing wrong the the D800 except ease of use, and price..same goes for the 5D mk3....He He) 36mpx is pretty much way overkill most of the time...I would just as soon shoot my Ebony45 or my Toyo45 and scan for a really huge file...not to mention its a lot more fun...:bsmilie::bsmilie:

Cheers

D600 vs D800 vs D700...

it will be wise to read the specs carefully and understand what you are really getting.

When Nikon say entry level FX, they are not kidding... as for me I am still happy with my 4 year old technology.

IMO, the way the d600 is configured, nikon made it very clear that it is for the serious enthusiasts. it has most of the stuff that (IMO) 60-70% of us generally use on a regular basis. so, if you want the latest tech, but don't want to blow a wad, of course the d600.

i am waiting to see the street price for this camera. if you wish to save a penny or two, but still want a FX camera, the d700 prices should be dropping through the floor on buy/sell. the d700 is still a pretty capable camera, and at 12MP the files are also easier to manage especially for those who don't need to print on a regular basis.

Wait sometime the D700 more into FX budget entry level.

No need to wait. D700 prices were already very good since 1.5 years ago...

Still going very strong with the better condition.

If you don't mind about 70-90k SC he he
The price should be less than <2k

there are other members recommend view camera as well.....
FYI, on view cameras, you can do tilt and shift with almost any large format lenses, it is great camera to photographers who love tilt and shift.

All are good. Also consider Medium format too. In fact, the best photographers still stick to large format when it comes to landscapes - you can manipulate both the film plane and the lens plane in a large format camera - not possible in a dSLR system.

Need to make sure I pass my ippt before embarking on MF or LF, hehe

actually, that's where canon is at now over in buy/sell, with the 5D classic being very affordable at ard $900. :)

hopefully, once d600 hits the pipeline in numbers, we will see the same thing happening in nikon buy/sell, considering that now we will have 2nd-hand d700, D3/D3s running around. ;p

Not true mate. You can use PC-E lenses for tilt and shift on DSLR.

I meant you can't shift both the film and the lens plane. Plus, tilt-shift has its limitations. I know because I use the Nikon PC-E 24mm.

to TS: what is your current camera, and what size, and how, are you going to use your images?...

you can if you get something like the Horseman LD ;p:bsmilie:

not, noting come close.
I use both large format camera and the tilt shift lens on small format camera before.
Blur Shadow is right, in term of the amount of tilt and shift, on the lens and film plane, plus you can work with almost any large format lenses.

If its weight you are referring to, some MF cameras with lens and back are actually smaller and lighter than a big size DSLR.

Some D700 are already selling at $1.7K ;)
