Hi ,

I'm might thinking of getting D70S . Anyone can advice me whether D70s can shoot by using monitor instead of the Viewfinder ? I was told by friend that D70s unable to shoot using the monitor.

Live preview on LCD you mean? Among interchangeable lens DSLRs out there, only the Olympus E-330 can do that comprehensively, so you might wanna try out that camera.

If not, wait for the D80, it will be much more worth it than getting the D70s now or get a much cheaper D70s by then.

Get the D70s now.. no point waiting and have nothing to shoot with... As mentioned, D80 would be a good buy for the D50 upgraders... D70 upgraders should be looking at D200 instead...

why worry about storage media

when you buy the camera, they will prob give you a SD card anyway

Seriously, with the monie spent on the lenses, I rather pamper my eyes by looking thru the view finder rather than on the LCD.

Yeah... probably a 512Mb but with 10.2Mp sensors, you would be looking at 4 to 5Mb per picture taken... you'd need BIG cards to keep up with the shooting.... 2 gigs and above...

Thanks everyone . I'm wearing glasses , and sometime is a very inconvenience to use the viewfinder. I think I will still go for it even without this function.

Don't worry too much about that. SLR viewfinders are easy to see even with specs.

congrats on your purchase! shoot and post more, that's one way to learn. Also, do keep a lookout in the "Gatherings, Photoshoots and Outings" sub forum and participate!
