can any one tell me if there is date stamping possibilites on d7000 jpeg files...
i read the manual and google abit.. still cannot locate..

You can add it in lightroom. Need to set up a output template. But in camera, no. This is because people who care much about IQ, generally dislike time stamping their pics.

Date time info is stored in the exif file though.

hi, any one use the free nikon tripod come with the d7000 ? use it but it seem to be light, will it withstand the d7000 mounted on it? will wind blow, it will fall?

Since they dare to give it as a free gift along with the camera, it should be able to withstand the weight. (or at least rated to withstand).
Wind blow depend how big the win la. Hurricane sure fall ;)

Beg to differ, the free tripod only usable indoor. Would rather spend a bit on a stable support on outdoor , no worth if it topple over w camera on it

Depends on what lens you use.

What is there in the d5100 that is lacking in the d7k? Except the swivel LCD that is.

true. D5100 looks more like it's for teens nowadays who buy a DSLR just to camwhore. serious photographers know how to add in those effects with more enhanced controls anyway, so i see no point in the D7000 having these features. save up the CPU space instead for something else

External MIC support, HDR on camera, FULL HD 1080P 30fps (D7000 only 24 fps).

Dun tink Japan can recover that fast for new model. I agreed that 5100 is good for the swivel LCD , for HDR it's easily obtain through software and camera bracketing function, I dont realli use video mode and hear that camera will easily overheat if video mode is on for too long.

so how is the 30 fps compare to 24 fps? i found the d7k 24fps video too jerky.

I don't usually use video mode unless I'm just messing around. DSLRs are meant to take photos anyway.

My d7k take video ok leh.. Not jerky.. But absolutely hates the autofocus, used 1 time, forever on use pure manual.

For Swivel LCDs.. We dont really see them on prosumer/pro lens though.. Maybe for now.

I think they will be able to put in the 30fps on the d7k if they (Nikon) want to via firmware upgrade. It all depends whether Nikon will want to give it to us.

It is obvious D5100 is geared more towards video shooters while D7k is gear more towards photographers. That segmentation is getting clearer now. And no, I do not think Nikon will release the D7000 replacement in 1 year. Nikon's product cycle is around 2 years per model update. Canon's entry level product cycle is 1 year.

The only exception is D3000 to D3100. But you have to know that D3000 is a re-modeled D60, which is a re-modeled D40x. All almost the same, with pretty much the same technology. Except that D3000 gained a few more AF points.
