Just shoot with what you have now. Read the manual of your camera body and Dry Cabinet for the beginning.
Depends how fast you learn, this setup should be good for you at least 3 months.
One other thing you might want to consider to buy is a camera bag. The freebie tripod should also be replaced. However, you can choose to spend one or two times with it to learn its weakness before you replace it.

Need some advice and guidance here. First time venture into DSLR

Just bought my D7000 kit from Expo today via Audio House. Comes with Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC.

Came with the following free gifts:
Lens Cleaning Kit
Camera Case
SD Card Reader

8GB (Class 4) and 16 GB (Class 10) SDHC Card
Screen Protector
62mm UV Filter
Electronic Dry Cabinet

Just wondering if I need further equipment to properly maintain and use the camera.

Yours come with so many free gifts! even the dry cabinet. I'm gonna get a dry cab tml cos mine doesn't come with it. And remember to get the free 50mm lens from nikon!

Hi to fellow D7k user.
I also just got the D7k.
Has anybody try out the Tamron 17-50mm with SB-700 flash?
Any problem?
Is the Tamron 17-50mm a better Lens compare to the 18-105mm kit lens?

I have the exact same setup and it work great.
D7000 can pair with SB-600 also if u want.

Tamron is better than the 18-105 kit for the f2.8-ness , but u lose the reach (to be augumented by a telephoto lens)

But the 18-105 is a very good lens on its own as well.

sadly, on sensor. Have to send it to NSC to clean it up but the problem came back again... But luckily i dont always shoot f22 at a blank sky.

It seems like I have the same problem. I check picture taken with my camera 2 weeks after the purchase and I found the spots is there with F22.
I asked my friend to try it to (he also just purchased D7000 for around 2 weeks) and he also have it.

I try to use blower to remove dust carefully from sensor but only small spots managed to be removed and I still have 2 solid spots at f/22 so heading to NSC this week because I'm not sure now whether it is dust or oil.
Since I only know one person with D7000 that I can asked to check I'm not really sure whether it is common in D7000 but here I found another case.

If others want to check their D7000 dust/spots on the sensor, you can try to shoot at blank paper with F/22, better with low shutter speed and shake the paper a bit to create smooth blur picture where if there is spot you can directly see it.
I am new to DSLR so I'm not sure whether it is common to have spots for new camera but to me it doesn't make sense to always come back to NSC to clean the sensor.

try sgcamerastore, they should have it. Of course if u can afford, pls get the MB-D11. It jus feels different.

I bought additional nikon battery + 8gb class 10 sd card and sum up to $2000

No travel bag though.. Won't use that anyway, so is okay. No more stock.

Hi, can i check if there is any spot if you shoot at F22 and below? Because under normal circumstances i will not shoot at F22. I have not tried shooting at F22 yet but i will go and try.

just tried mine just now.. at f22 1/30 at 1st got 1 spot, so i try to use a blower to see if i can remove the spot anot, after blowing the spot is gone haha

I havent tried blowing. for those who want to test, just place the white paper on the floor and shoot at f22 or higher. don't need to shake. the spots will come out if there are any.
