hehehe, i'm a member w/ few post too. and yes, it take D7k to lure me out![]()
Hmmm...
I would be very interested to pit the D7000 next to a D700, same lens, same settings, both at the same high iso with same highest iso reduction, taking the same subject. The pictures at 12800 looks very promising,
But just curious, IF lets say the noise in the picture was not much different(meaning, unless u pixel peep then maybe u can see a tiny difference), while it will be good too have almost full frame performance in such a body, wouldn't the D700 lose one of its main selling points? Which happens to be the cheaper full frame with useability in high iso? (Leaving flagship D3s aside)
Although I do understand there are still differences that can set them apart, (eg: does D7000 have a virtual horizon? only the 51AF pt seems to be different)
Very curious:think:....no offence but it seems to me like they are killing off the D700, which hopefully translates to a replacement model being announced soon....hopefully....:bsmilie:
looking forward to its arrival![]()

I think new D700 replacement model should be introduced soon, maybe same for the D300s to avoid killing their own market. It's like a generation thing.
D300s replacement will be sharing sensor with A77 and D700 replacement will be sharing with A850 replacement.
So we could roughly gauge their announcements by these connections.
A77. So I guess will be about 20MP or so, 720P @ 60fps (D7000 cannot do this). Etc etc....
Not sure how's the ISO performance, if it'd be slightly better than D7000 or something.
Hi,
I'm joining the DSLR family with the purchase of D7000 (after playing around with compact, I think it's time to move ahead). I've been a Nikon fan since my first compact >_<
I can't wait to purchase this but no shops that I know of accepts pre-order. I wonder if anyone knows any local shop that accepts this?
I owned a Canon 400D and will switch to Nikon D7000. I like to shoot portraits and walkabout scenes. Will all Nikonians please advise me the types of lens and its corresponding brands I should consider. I consider myself a newbie to DSLR with a tight budget.
Try MSColor and Cathay, they accept bookings.
Hi Kriegsketten. Thank you for your response. Yes I do like zoom lens as well. Having read many postings in this thread, I begin to understand a little bit about and fancy prime lens as well. My preference is taking portraiture and family photos, both locally and overseas. As I have budgetary constraints, I thought it would be better for me to find out the approximate cost and brands of the lens before D7000 hit the local market. Also please pardon my ignorance. What is the different in the AF-S and AF-D lens that you recommended?
Cheer!

For zooms, you can look at 16-85mm, 55-200mm, 55-300mm (newly released this month) of the DX range. For FF, you can look at 70-300mm. 28-700mm has just been released (will be above 1K). These two are affordable FF zoom lenses.
I wouldn't go for the 55-300 though, I'd rather get the 55-200 since the 55-300 is so much more expensive but just adding only a little bit at the long end.
by the way, 28-700 you sure bo :bsmilie:
I think you're referring to 28-300, and I think that's good since it's just a bit more expensive than the 18-200 DX, since joekohys didn't mention anything about shooting landscape.
