OMG...I like wide....this is definately the camera I want

Btw Alex, do you have anything indoor that shoot in ISO1600 and above?

 upgrade .. don't upgrade .. upgrade .. don't upgrade ...

Yup .. post some high ISO samples.

I think i must stop reading this thread as it is getting very poisonous.:)I must reist the temptation.:sweatsm:

...i have returned the camera and the WA already
I might have some more shots at home

Returned?.....Why must return, just keep them.

The first macro shots look really noisy, maybe its the web compression, but doesnt look good to me, and the distortion on the wide angle is pretty bad. To be honest, im left unimpressed.

the macro shots are done with iso 6400

Have you ever seen a super wide lens without distortion? To be fair, this is almost a rectilear fisheye at 14mm on Full Frame.

Well, I have to admit that I am biased because I have already been poisoned.:p

As nice as these pics were taken, can someone really be able to tell if a pic is taken from a D3, D700, D200, or D60 just by looking at these jpegs? I must say I am quite amazed :bsmilie:

Why are you amazed when you can't tell? :dunno:

some really high ISO tests

ISO6400

DSC0927.jpg

ISO25600 - not noise free but nice noise and details are still there

ok lah, it is a 14mm, but if you notice the distortion is well controlled
and it is super wide!!! woo hoo

ok this one taken with another really old lens my tokina 17mm f3.5

hi people... just want to share...

Here are some D700 shots taken at the Singapore Garden Festival. Some more in my flickr site.(I am in the process in uploading more). EXIF info can be seen at flickr site...
All are taken with old lenses. (60, 17-35, 24-120 and 80-200)

I am generally impressed by the image quality of the camera comparing to my D200. But opinions are entirely yours....

Why are you amazed when you can't tell? :dunno:

Amazed at some folks can tell it's from a particular cam just looking at the pics here. There weren't any EXIF data embedded in the pics. The subsequent info on the ISO setting does give some indication on the excellent performance of this sensor at insanely High ISO

I cant but the TS did mention and the subject of this thread is a giveaway that it is by D700. Otherwise, can also check the EXIF.

sorry, all my image are "saved for web" so exif data has been stripped to reduce size (kb)

btw one important thing to note, the hi iso noise is least when the image is properly exposed,
if the image is under exposed the noise will be more, so shadow areas will have more noise than highlight areas. especially on ISO above 6400

noticeable texture (within the resolution of the system) like the cloth texture of the shirt is also good at hiding noise... in areas that are both relatively smooth (in relation to the resolution of the image) and in the shadow, like on the guy's exposed arm, you would definitely get more noise... but then again, that is ISO25600...

This is the kind of comment that really leaves me :dunno::dunno::dunno:

People who leaves this kind of comment generally have not shot wider than 28mm FOV, perhaps 24mm FOV. I have for years shot with 20mm on film and in the last 2 years been using Sigma 10-20 which gives 15mm FOV. And I am impressed with the WA shots.

aiyah, don't blame him lah, everyone is entitled to his/her opinion
