I m from Germany, but not Ang Mo , and am travelling to ShenZhen, HKG and SIN in four weeks time, do anyone have the latest pricing of D700 in these three places?

Could u please give me some ideas of where to go in SIN for good pricing without bargain? Shop’s name, address and perhaps a good salesperson’s name as well? I m extremely bad in bargaining, either ended up with $5 cheaper for a $1000+ products or the salesperson have a “bau kon” face.

How do u guys test the camera before buying? I don’t want to buy something so expansive but later find out at home that it is full of dead px or something else. Do they allow u to play with the camera before buying? Can u open another box if u think that the one u re looking at is not good? Some shops in HKG have the “if u open the box then u have to buy it” policy, I never buy something in these shops.

I know that tourist can claim GST while leaving SIN at the airport, but does it means that I am not allowed to use the camera while in SIN and perhaps travel to MAL?

I got an e quote from Cathey as 2225 w/GST and cash, on the phone it was 2290 GST cash.

No equote reply from MS color though.But I did call up MS color and they quoted me 2210 w/GST cash but ...but ... Boh stock. :what:

TK I talked to them on the phone until 2230 ...but their gracious attitude waned ...so decided against it.

Alan Photo : 2210 GST cash ..but the fellow quoted me was overseas and last unit at SLS...so didn't buy.

Then I boh liao called up parisilk amd then some incident happened ... and i got 2193.50 GST cash
Anyone wonder where there's a 50 cents behind the dollars ... ;p

Ask yourself, as there'll be some variable when asking from shop to shop and person to person.
Price down here is as reference as sometimes it can get cheaper or abit more.

There is always Nikon price guide over here, if you have look carefully.

AP Funan quoted:
1) D700 - $3520
2) SB-900 - $645
3) 24-70 f2.8 - $2250 (but the salesman told me, if i want, lowest he can give is $2240 but it is the last pc)

2) 24-70 f2.8 - $2250

(I asked if got discount if i buy these 2 items together, but not given wor...)

Kelvin was busy. So i nego with the lady until
1) D700 - $3520
2) SB-900 - $640

Went for a puff and haha, the best price i could get from Kelvin was

1) D700 - $3520
2) SB-900 - $640
3) 24-70 f2.8 - $2235

Reason for the slight increase in price of the 24-70 is because it is running out of stock. Once new stock come in, price may drop back.

My friend will be getting it from them, err, now?

iirc, in terms of absolute size, D700 is bigger but D300 has 100% coverage whereas D700 is only 95%...

Yup, that's why i got the lens and flash first. Cos tonight we will be celebrating my dad's bday in advance and i've got an event to shoot in early Dec.

Practise first and the flash can be use for trying out strobbist stuff.

And ya, body can wait. No rush~
