Yeah!!! Same thought as me haha;)

i am hopeful but i think the price of the D700 will not drop much until there's a replacement from Nikon. the Canon 5D Mk II has a list price of US$2699 and will prob sell for ard S$3,200 - S$3,400 (my guess) but it is a much lower class of camera than the D700. imaging, the AF on the Mk II with just 1 cross-point is even worse than the AF on the 50D! it also doesn't have full weather sealing. i was toying with the idea of getting the 5D Mk II as my FF camera because i like the price, the weight and the high MP but the rest of the specs just puts me off. guess i will continue to wait for a high MP D800

I don't really get it... You already have a nice complement of Nikon glass, but yet you are contemplating getting the canon FF and spend even more $$ on Canon Lenses, flashes, etc?

Maybe if you have deep pockets...

i think my pockets are the same size as most people :).

but we are talking about APS-C and FF and i am likely to use different lenses for both. Nikon is very strong with DX lenses but for FF, Canon is way ahead with its choice of prime and 2.8 or 4.0 trilogies.

i don't have any flash since i never liked using it for my photos. as for my lenses, I will still need to get a good standard zoom (say 24-70 2.8) whether i get a Nikon or a Canon. if Canon, i will trade-in the Nikon 70-300 for the Canon version. the rest of the lenses will stay with my cropped Nikon camera. ideally, i would like to have a lighter cropped camera for travel and a FF camera for more serious photography.

like i was saying, i was just toying with the idea. having seen the specs of the 5D Mk II, i think i will just wait for the D800. hopefully by then (i think, early 2010), there will be more FF lenses from Nikon. also, by then we may have a D90-replacement (D90x?) that can do video with AF that will be a great back-up to the D800! oh, well, let's hope dreams come true!
