The new mirrorless camera has PHASE DETECTION AF.
I am glad that nikon realise what was seriously lacking with live view, contrast detection just doesn't work for AFC.
I wonder if that meant the new nikon DLSRs will have phase detection AF with live view.... that will REALLY be good.

Heard about D7000 is an outstanding camera. Im currently using the older version of it. The D90. It had served me well.
I believe a lot of people here is waiting very patiently, where some of us for almost 2 years for the awesome D700 replacement which we all hope on 24 Aug, Nikon would tell us that the wait is finally over.

On second thought, if the new Nikon 2.6x mirrorless can have a mega-zoom (say up to 500mm and beyond, effective) that is half the size and weight of the M4/3 ones with VR. And the camera body does GPS and has a view-finder. And the price is right... then can seriously consider wor.
The Sony NEX with the 18-200mm is such an unwieldy and unbalance thing (IMHO)

A Nikon division (I won’t mention the country) will be showing new Nikon products on August 24, 2011. The showing is “confidential” and will require an NDA. We already know the Nikon mirrorless will be coming.
Please don’t yell at me for posting Nikon stuff on Canon Rumors (trust me, it’ll happen).
Whatever Nikon does, could give some insight into what Canon and others in the industry will do. Photographic equipment companies rarely one up each other in the span of a month or so.
Upcoming DSLRs
I received word that one manufacturer will surprise everyone with a big megapixel camera next Thursday, August 25, 2011.
The report is very vague, but comes from a bang on source. I’d almost [CR3] this.
A Nikon division (I won’t mention the country) will be showing new Nikon products on August 24, 2011. The showing is “confidential” and will require an NDA. We already know the Nikon mirrorless will be coming.

historically that is always the case, 1st announcement is normally for coolpix cameras
