i would say the D70/D70s strong point is its ability to keep shadow details to be brought out during PP
this plus its never die energy consumption
but i switched to a D80 mainly because of the viewfinder and the lower noise
Exact same sentiments. But I still using D70.... Have to bear the noise and the dark viewfinder. Sometimes it can be quite painful to the eye when I use manual lens.
I thought u upgraded?
This is my camera as well and still happy with the shots I made, 86k SC and still counting...

plan to do a quantum leap soon to FX.
very nice pictures...wish i had that ability
some shots i took recently..on a tripod with 18-200mm with iso 800, VR off
very fuzzy i feel....
it is because of the noise resulting from high ISO, according to your EXIF, you were shooting at ISO 1600 (not 800), which is the highest ISO on a D70, that's why they are noisy.
why do you still need to use high iso when you are on tripod? try again with iso 100, aperture of f8-f11, on tripod of coz. you will see the difference.
how to get iso100 in d70? i thought only have iso200?![]()
