Atleast Nikon D100 lasted for more than 24months before it is being kicks by their new and better replacement.

Canon is simply too fast being replaced!!!

Canon may be fast but in no way were you compelled to buy the latest and greatest unless you want to.

Also, just because a new model came out doesn't render the older models useless.

OK, this is OT, but I've been wondering how a Ang Moh from Hell became a mod for a Singapore based photo forum. Did you used to work in Singapore ?

A ton of features on a plastic body doesn't make it a pro DSLR. It definitely wouldn't be able to take the abuse a true pro body can.

hmm i think pro functional features are more impt than a durable casing..
ie, a cam doesnt need to be environmentally sealed to make it pro...

i think functions like 1/500 xsync and 144 buffer (supposed?! for normal large jpeg on sandisk high speed cf) 1005 pixel metering make it quite pro leh...oh and ittl support as well... i've had enuff with canon's ettl sub standard... and of coz i had tons of problems with 300d's flash metering... hopefully d70 will make it all better with the built in ittl speed light....

but the continuous shot rate not very pro, still semi pro at 3fps...
and i heard ittl osso not so good for bounce

Ok gonna wade in here.

The D70 is not a professional grade body, it's a long way short of it, however it will probably make a useful backup DSLR for working professional photographers.

Professional kit has to be able to withstand considerably more abuse than amateur kit, (eg rain, dust, heat, physical abuse) as it's being used roughly from day to day (time is money kids, no time to baby equipement when shooting for a living).

What the D70 is on paper is a well specified, well thought out amateur body, end of story.

Cricket, as in the game.

I was asked is how I became a mod. I still don't know the exact reasons why I was chosen but a guess is because I am a professional photographer, a lot older than the average age here and I'm prepared to give out accurate unbiased information based on first hand experience. One thing though as most find out over time, I do not suffer fools gladly.

I've shot in SG a few times on assignment.

Hi Ian,

Hope don't mind sharing how you decide which part of the cricket match to focus on when you shoot? For example, it's exciting to watch the bails being taken off when the batsman is clean bowled, or a spectacular diving catch at 2nd slip, but its very hard to predict what's going to happen, and it happens at lightning speed (especially with the fast bowlers).

Regards,
Adrian.
