That's a bit surprising, as Nikon generally performs model life endings much less frequently than most camera companies. Two years is a very short life span for a Nikon body, which tells you something about how fast the digital revolution is moving. (The downgrade in numbering seems to imply that another higher specification model is coming, though.)"
As thom says, d70 is indeed a d100 REPLACEMENT....
so i dun think there will be another supposed "d100 replacement" round the corner... what surprises me is the price... its almost the same as canon 300d!!
but i feel nikon is damn smart... They realise the market is not as simple as what canon thinks the market is.
Canon:
1. consumer (Ixus series)
2. prosumer digi/dslr (G series/300D)
4. Prosumer-Professional Dslr (10D)
3. professional dslr. (1dii/1ds)
Nikon is smart they divide market into:
1. consumer 3000 coolpix
2. prosumer-professional digi/dslr (coolpix 5000/8000 series, D70)
3. professional dslr (d2h)
This way, they can cut cost by delivering ONE product to a larger range of audience. this is more efficient than developing another dumb product to cater to "prosumer dslr (300d) market".. and whats more, canon 300d users will probably get better with experience and only get pissed off that canon put stupid firmware limitations on the 300d....
I predict they are gonna get a MASSIVE market share with the d70... and once people jump from canon, they might not wanna move back....
three cheers for nikon!!!
What a dumb analysis :bsmilie:
