Wow! Thanks dude. Didn't expect a 1 for 1 exchange. Upzzzzz for your sales, dude!

Still got my number?

no problem :) one thing though, if the grips all show the same problem, i wouldn't be able to exchange 1 for 1 for u. hope you understand. the least i can do right now is to at least offer you an exchange should a set i have work

pm me your number again - might still have it but not on me at the moment! cheers

It seems to last awhile with 2 EN-EL3's in the grip, but I havn't had it long enough to thoroughly test it, I will let you know soon. Yes, the first time I put 6 AA lithium batteries in the grip, it went flat after 1-2 pictures. Later, when I tried it with the switch off, I got 20-30 pictures, but I wouldn't trust the AA's in a critical situation. I suppose I'll have to rely on the MS-D70 (3 CR2) lithium battery holder that comes with the D70 instead, besides, they are smaller batteries.
Notice that when using one EN-EL3 in the grip, it drop to one bar ( on the batt. indicator )faster than when using the same batt. inside the D70 body.

Anyone has the same experience or is it that my grip unit is defective ?

Have you tested if you can still take roughly the same number of pictures on your camera before it really runs outta battery? :) should try that first - sometimes indicators can be inaccurate.

Last Sat, I manage to shoot about 300+ photo ( with 1 fully charged batt. in the grip ) before the batt. indicator drop by 1 bar.
When I continue to shoot to close to 500+ photo, suddenly the batt. indicator drop to the last bar.
I change to a new batt. because I was preparing to shoot the NDP fireworks ( not to take risk ).

When got back home, I put the 1st batt. back to the grip and it still indicate 1 bar.
However when I put the same 1st batt. into the D70 body, it shows fully charged.

I like to know is this normal when using the grip or there is something wrong with my grip.

I was told by some that the grip need a little extra power becos of the extra connection, unlike when using the batt. directly inside the D70 body which has direct contact.

Anyone can advise ?

Hmm... nort sure :) bring back to the place where u got it from n check. It might be possible that as you've said... because of the extra circuitry, power consumed is higher :)

Hi ParkertR,

Been looking at these 3rd party grips. Noticed in the 2nd page of this thread you posted another grip with some sort of lcd screen. What's the difference? Here are two battery grips from Jenis.
http://www.hkjenis.com/product/HOLD/DSLR/JND70.htm
http://www.hkjenis.com/English/HOLD/professional/JND70P.htm

Can you advise what the lcd's are for? Or their difference besides physical apperance.
TIA....

Yes they're the Jenis grips.

The second one with the LCD has got functions for - Timer, Back Light, Battery indicator via the battery pack - but i dont find it useful. I put it up as my supplier sent me the photo. Recommend the standard one instead, unless you're looking for the 'cool' factor :)

ParkertR,

Thanks for the quick reply. Well, I guess those extra stuff aint that useful. It just have more of the bells and whistles.

I have the same problem too. What is wrong?

So the question now is whether has anyone tried using the 2 batts in the grip until it goes flat? With 2 batts, the batt indicator may show that it has dropped to the last bar after some usage, but whether how long more or how many more shots the camera can sustain before full exhaustion.

Not very long... I tried.

Anyone can do a full battery test on thi issue? And find out the way to resolve it.

yes. someone should. its a big problem.

As for AA batts, any confirmed brands/types that can be used on this grip? Heard that certain batts cannot be used.

Any updates on the short battery lifespan when using the Jenis grip?

Hi, I use 1 original battery and 1 east gear battery. Able to shoot about 400+ before flat. No problem with EN-EL. But AA rechargeables doesn't work at all. First I tried, 2300mAH, didn't work, 1 shot and its flat.

Then someone told me 1500-1700mAH rechargeable is able to work for about 300 to 400 shots, so I bought 6 pcs to try. NO LUCK, doesn't work, 1 shot and it went flat.

Anyone out there using rechargeable AAs? Can advice?

Didn't change with ParkerTR because he say his new batch got the same problem.

ParkerTR, maybe you want to check with your supplier again?

the grip is not stable even though u use 1 ENEL or 2 ENEL or 6 AAs battery.

u mention u use 1 original and 1 eg battery, and it went flat after 400++ shots. but come to think of it. 1 original battery in the body itself can last up to 600 or even more shots

or try removing the grip put in 1 battery into the body itself and it will showed full bar ..
