D600 User Thread II

Have anyone tried AF-F subject tracking in live view movie mode?

I tried shooing movie in AF-F and subject tracking mode. Put my subject in center of frame where the green box is. Then press ok to lock focus. When i move around, the green bo moves with my subject but it doesnt seem to focus on it.

I cant seem to make it work, i must be doing something wrong. Can anyone help?

i know AF-A, AF-S, AF-C...what's AF-F?

Hahah i know how u feel.

Probably because it doesn't have much to do with what people associate with AF-C on a DSLR. :)

Yea it behaves very differently.

No one knows how it works to track subjects when recording in video?

Ok, I've been stumped for a few days.

I was playing with my wife's D600 and I realised in Manual mode her shutter speed has slight difference.

For eg: hers can go 1/40s -> 1/45s -> 1/50s.

My D600 can only get to 1/40s -> 1/50s.

Both firmware are the same except hers was bought in Dec while mine in March.

Have tried playing with settings, but can't seem to find out how come. Not that it matters, but just curious.

Anybody can shed any light?

Hahahhaa! Tats intereting... I dun think Ive actually rem seeing 1/45, in any camera!

Under custom settings
(b2 on mine), there is an option for exposure control/compensation in 1 stop, 1/2 stop and 1/3 stops.

He talking abt shutter speed nt exposure..

same settings whether is iso, aperture, or shutter. 1/3, 1/2 or 1 step.

Yes, tested that, but now I don't even get the 1/50, my camera directly goes 1/45 -> 1/60.

It's already at 1/3 - 1/40, 1/50, 1/60 before I fiddled with the camera.

Not that it matters, but just wondering why it behaves differently.

Thanks folks for the replies, just keep cool on the answers/replies, everybody's just throwing ideas.

Does anyone shoot with the memory cards at "backup" setting?

Im trying it out and when playback my photos, it will show all photos in both cards (each photo show twice)

Is there a way to make it to playback only 1 card but still with the backup setting? Also, is there a way i can delete "photo A" and the same photo in both cards are deleted?

it should display the pics in card A 1st, then card B...

not sure abt ur other questions, but from wat i tried, not possible...

I do, but I don't get what you mentioned.

Maybe i shud give an example...

I take 3 pics: pic1,2,3

Now all these appear in both cards and when i playback, it shows card1 pic1,2,3, then card2 pic1,2,3.

Now my qn is: since card 2 is just a copy of card 1, is there a way to playback only card 1? And if i want to delete pic2, is there a way to del from both cards at the same time?

finally I bought my first full frame dslr yesterday. well... maybe consider upgrading from D7000 to D600. Haven't had a chance to shoot yet. looking forward for my next off day to try out tis camera with tamron 24-70 which I bought it together. Anyway tips or advise on using tis camera from any brother or sister here?:)

Congrats bro. If you shoot D7000 previously, this camera should fell right at home, so just go out and enjoy it.

Looking forward to some pictures from the Tammy 24-70 with this camera. Let us know your experience :)

Bro you can't delete both at the same time because for the function you choose, it is meant for backup. One of the reason for backup is to prevent accidental deletion of pics in card 1, so you will still have them in card 2. If you can delete both at the same time if you choose slot 2 as back up, something is wrong with your cam and you need to send in for servicing already :)
