Maybe I am used to those dust specs having been a user of the 5D classic prior to crossing to Nikon. It' pretty sad that there's an issue like this but I am not gonna let it stop me from going out there to take photos. My only worry initially is oil spots, and in 99.9% of the cases that I read and see with pictures posted in forums all over the world, there certainly ain't any. So at least that worry is off my head already. I was affected initially after reading all those scary threads in forums, but to tell you honestly, I am glad it is dust and not oil. Nikon will get it fixed, as with all other models, just give them more time. (BTW I am no fan boy of any brand)

Other than this dust issue, all other aspect of this camera is fantastic, so much so that I have already clocked more than 6k shutter count already. This camera is a joy to use and for me personally, the joy outweighs the dust that I get in the camera (just do bulk cloning in LR4 which is less than 5 mins job, sometimes just 5 second cos it's the same spot). Sorry if it doesn't work for you, but I guess tolerance level of different people varies :)

Just used my D600 yesterday, already have a big dust spot on the top left hand corner, 100 shots.

Should be after clean and starter using.

Mine when bought new yes, got fews and after over 1k click and just minor dust can use air blower to blow it out easily.
But it is very common to using AFD lens in outdoor also.

I don't understand, why just minor dust after 1000 clicks?
If dust comes from outside when you changed lens, it shouldn't depend on no. of clicks, right? Unless the dust is from within the body, then you'll have less and less dust when you fires more clicks and after several cleaning.

Dust we no guaranty is free of dust, minor dust meant, the lens has been mounted at home and bring for outdoor used and Zoom lens & Mirror up/down also would be create some dust.

You are saying without changing lens outdoor and normal usage only, there would be some minor dust accumulating on the sensor after a while and you need to clean the sensor using blower.
Wow, this is quite scary, I don't need to do that for my D90.

Unless you stick back with DX body :)

More bigger sensor size an stick more dust,
This is very common issue.

So I need to prepare a rocket blower and visit NSC every fortnight if upgrading to D600, right?:dunno:

Maybe i shall ask for a rocket blower FOC when buying a D600.;p

Yes I knew, but you cant excepted that day will be raining. Ha ha

Shutter count at 6525 and apart for that one spot which i think came in from changing lenses, no oil or dust issues.

Congrats! You're free of oil issue.

My few days old D600 also has specks of dusts on the top left hand corner.... sucks sia....

Hope that Nikon can resolve this quickly to make every D600 user happy!

If the dust is on right top corner the dust will be on the same corner on sensor or opposite side? I brought the rocket blower but can't get ripe if it.

Rotate everything by 180 degrees. What you see on top screen is actually at the bottom of the sensor (filter). What you see on the left screen is actually on the right sensor (filter) and so on...

Yo CSers, the more I read about D600, the more I read about the dust and oil spots.

I am trying to see the magnitude of this problem and so far how has NSC do about it, whether did we need to dig out pockets for those spots removal :(

Thanks David for the comfirmation in my thought. Still remember me? I pass you tokina 80-200 f2.8 Canon F1 body and you convert my nikon 85mm F1.8 pre-AI to AI. Stephen here

Someone asked, what happens to the dust after blowing? Just go to one corner and may return back to the sensor filter after some time?

Yes and no. Yes, dust may go in one corner of the camera and may come back to the sensor filter after some time.
No, there's usually a dust trap beside the sensor and dust will stick there for avery long time.
In this camera (just for illustration/this is not D600), it's the white double-sided tape beside the sensor
