As someone said previously, there arent any safety concerns, and also it may not affect all d600. A recall seems a bit too drastic from the company point of view.

Recall, doesn't mean have to die die call back all affected. They can acknowledge, and thereafter ask those who feel they need a verification to bring their units to NSC. Those not affected, won't be serviced.

There are many ways to get it done, I just think doing it the right way can appease a lot of people.

I doubt Nikon wanted to recall their product, as in actual practise no company would want to do this.
It's costly & somehow will tarnish their brand name. Imagine a recall has been made & it appears as
a big news in paper then their products will not going to sell well.
I must admit that this is a good camera, despite of the dust issue being report repeatedly, many people still jumped
in to buy.

No Nikon management rep is going to risk his neck by stating this.

A recall is an admission of failure.

A recall is done in the car industry and pharmaceutical industry because they have no choice.
Because if the car has a serious defect that is known and yet not corrected, people can die.
Likewise for pharmaceutical drugs/medicines that have serious defects.

But in camera industry, people just get angry with defects and leave rants on forums like Clubsnap.
No one died as a result.

To those who are tired going to NCS for cleaning. Canon is pretty much clean... But SC is a little far than Nikon SC... b&s is one click away.

CSC is located at harbourfront, there's a MRT linked direct.

NSC nearest's MRT is Tanjong Pagar, and quite a distance walk away.

That's the idea, so that you will be sick of the walking, give up and live with the dust/oil problems Nikon has never clearly admitted. :bsmilie:

Hope the new batches aren't affected ba. Thinking of getting a 2nd D600 this month. My current one also not as dusty as the pictures depicted here.

walk , we all need some exercise :D

the waiting time at NSC is pretty fast, if that's any consolation....

There's a glass blocking, and they should have tripods & UWAs there for us to mount cameras & shoot. :bsmilie:

I'd expect that anything new they are making would have the new parts. It would be way more cost effective to put the new parts in on the assembly line than to fix the problem later.

I haven't heard from anybody with a new shutter unit who got a spec free sensor now. Shutters got replaced already for months. Maybe Nikon changed something just recently so let's wait...

There's some new package going out with the new batches of D600. Can't remember the details, keeping watch.

My impression of a Nikon reaction based on what I read on forums, the solution is

1. clean it
2. clean again
3. keep cleaning if customer is loyal Nikon fan who has high level of tolerance
4. customer face turns red, replace the camera (not in Singapore though) or a moving part in the camera to see whether it hits jackpot.

I don't own a D600.
