D600, D800 prices

No matter what , I order from adorama body and 24 84 plus other free things still cheaper than the local price here.

Something is seriously wrong with Singapore retail pricing - same product and why are things so expensive here ???? ....

I wish I know why .. but I also don't understand "why" ...

Do you have to pay GST on items sent from overseas?

yes, > SGD400

the lastest adorma offer is $700 bucks off + lots of freebies
after shipping + gst, is still cheaper than those selling in SG

but bodies no international warranty

Because in Singapore, you can just sell it for more and there will still be takers!

How come we don't ever get these in Singapore ?

The amazon deal has been on for a week or 2... definitely one of the best deals if 2012.

The huge difference in pricing here is certainly worth pointing out - can Nikon Singapore or retailers care to comment?

I'd like to have Nikon comment on why they offer deeply discounted package deals like that in the US and not here in Singapore.

It really pisses me off that we aren't eligible.

It's kind of a slap in the face for Nikon loyalists.

I believe it is a case of strategic pricing. You have to be aware that Singapore has the highest concentrations of millionaire households in the world!

Strategic pricing from their perspective. Strategic screwing from my perspective. We 'Snappers are not all millionaires.

Just as they have the right to selectively discount, I have the right to feel screwed if an offer is made to others but not to me.

It's a slap in the face to our brand loyalty.

Well we just got to vote with our wallet.... if people still buy, they won't lower price. Or we bring the biz somewhere else.... but ya, really surprise with the big price different.
Then again, can someone explain about Amazon d600 price? At us$1999, excl. shipping and tax, not much diff from Sin price leh. Where got huge difference?

About $500 difference after all added in. Remember they are giving away a free lens. Like some mentioned, it's the best deal of 2012. But too bad, it's thousands miles away...those who are experienced in self cleaning should get it before the offer ends if already have intention of buying this model.

It's silly that products are so much cheaper elsewhere, but remember, this is a small market. I am hoping that Nikon SG changes pricing early in ny or I will buy grey market

You can buy either the D600 body only and the D600 kit (24-85mm VR) for US$1,999. The choice is obvious, and when compared against the price of the D600 kit in Singapore, you have significant savings.

Thanks for explaining bro...

Small market = small profit pool, so they have to hantam to the max the market can take :(

That's why pricing can be cheaper in larger markets like US, India, China, HK, ... to some extent MYS & Thai.

Nope not true... we approahing 6 mil people already - where got small market ? :bsmilie:

If you compare HK camera shop pricing, D600 is also very very much cheaper than Singapore. Quite same population - why different price structure then ?

Market size matters not to me. It still pisses me off.

They are creating an image problem and damaging reputation and loyalty by treating people in different markets differently.

That's how it starts: companies forget we are individuals that have a relationship with their company and products. If they want to dump on us because all they see is "a market" they are suffering from the kind of hubris that comes before the fall.

Nikon was number one a few decades ago. They lost sight of what their customers wanted and how they were perceived. Canon took the top spot and has held it.

To win markets in the long term, you need loyalty and I don't see how their "let's overcharge this market" strategy can do them good in the long term.

(Maybe some managers get a year-end bonus for good sales, but that's creating short-term wins at the cost of long-term loyalty.)

How many people here haven't considered switching to Canon at some point? These little annoyances are the things that push people to the other side.

;-)

FYI, the instant rebate for the D600 kit has decreased. Rebate was US$700, now US$200.
