D600, D800 prices

Mhh.. was wondering D600 still have the oil or dust issue?

If really wanted go in to full frame.. why not the D800 or a mint condition less sc D700 (2nd hand unit)

Artworkfoto's D600 is one-year shop warranty, not local Nikon warranty. Coz their shop name not listed in Nikon's authorised retailer page: Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd Apparently those 'unauthorised' dealers are slashing D600 prices, it's only those shops registered for Nikon local warranty that are still pushing prices around the $2.3k-$2.5k range. So it is something to look out for when buying D600, given D600 users' history of patronising the Nikon Service Centre often.

Just for D600, please go with official Nikon warranty. The shutter replacement should worth more than the $200 savings ...

Anyone has idea what's the price of D600 now? I haven't got chance to go down to Funan.

Thanks for input. Will check again if S/N 804xxx onwards shutters are safe to get

Not all earlier batch of cam have oil and dust issue. Mine is 801xxxxx .. so far have not encounter thos problem.

So far friends advise me to change the shutter unit before warrenty end .. but for me, if its not broke better not fix it. U never know if u got other issue once the cam is open up for servicing.

After shutter changed, shots few thousands, no more oil or dust issue... Nikon HQ should have found QC issues and overcome with new shutter. At least solution was found.

Good news to hear. Thanks.

Click! quoted $2460, not sure about gifts.

Just check the sensor when you purchase, as there will always be 1-2 sets with some small dust. I tested 2 D800E at the shop a few weeks back and found some tiny specks of dust on the sensor too. If you change lenses often, dust will appear some times later as well, anyway.

If you are not comfortable with checking correctly, buy from local authorised dealer so that you can always send it back to servicing centre to clean it.

Dust on sensor is also quite a common thing on Canon body. Had the same issue with 6D and 5DIII that I used to own, with some dust on either focusing screen or sensor when check at shops. Most buyers probably wont realise it unless you know how to check.

Looks like the price for D600 is pretty stable now. No chance of going down.

Half correct. The stable D600 prices are those sold by retail shops that provide local Nikon warranty. The parallel imported D600 sold in retail shops are experiencing continued falling prices. Techno gadgets selling D600 at an all-time low of $2142 (Nikon Digital SLRs - Nikon DSLR Body - Nikon D600 DSLR Body - Techno Gadgets - Your Reliable Source of Photo Equipments) while Artworkfoto selling their shop-warranty D600 at $2222. Lowest now I've asked around is $2390 for local Nikon warranty set for D600 from Alan Photo (Funan).

anyone has any idea if technogadgets will cover the cost for shutter replacement in NSC?

Considering d600 and d800 quality issue, I will not get grey unit at all. U have no ideal if the batch of camera is the older batch thats still show signs of quality issue.

Shop warrenty ??? Are you sure or not, sold u at such low price and u still expect warrenty coverage like local retailer ?

WAKE UP FROM UR DREAM PLS !!!

I prefer to think that the local d'ship stocks are sold at such a high price, rather than grey sets sold at a low price. Look at the prices outside Singapore, even places with higher sales taxes and higher overheads are selling same if not lower prices.

Agree.

But we are left with no choice since camera body are cover by local warrenty and not international warrenty like lens.

So I think its not fair to factor in the prices as compare to other countries.

Can't really say it it is not fair. In the end it comes down to costs of doing business, and Singaoore has one of the highest costs of doing business in the region, if not the world.

Do you know how the grey sellers work or is this just based on your assumptions?

Ops .. maybe my wording is too offensive. I apologies sincerely.

Just to share with you, recently I ask for nikon 24-70 .. when I ask about the barrel jam issue, if thats covered under their shop warrenty, their reply was a strict NO. Then they said manufacturer defect will be covered. That left me wondering how the shop define manufacturers defect in their own context ????

So if you want to get the 24-70, or d600, pls check with them that they are willing to bear the cost for the repair should the common issue like oil on sensor, barrel jam problem ever occure, and written in black and white on the agreement. Its serious cost for the shop or you to bear should it ever happen.

Almost quoted from other people,
They bought a Sigma lens from techogadgets(TG). It seems that there are backfocus issue. Being not local set, Sigma does charge. The buyer took the receipt back to TG and TG refunds.
But then, it is good to have black and white written and signed on what is covered.
Own protection.
