omg I just noticed the back of my warranty card says Nikon Hong Kong. Mine is Hong Kong set? Did I just get cheated :(? Btw I registered online on Nikon and the warranty was approved but I think I will call Nikon tomorrow to check just in case.

Nikon Singapore get their stocks from Nikon Hong Kong. There's nothing to worry about since warranty is approved. Just go out and start shooting!

All Nikon product is from Nikon Hong Kong, it just that they ship to Nikon SIngapore for sale... look at the warranty card again... it will mention about it...
Ok thanks. At least now I feel assured it's a local set :)

I seem to have difficulty with the viewfinder. It's not clear no matter how much I adjust the diopter setting. The clearest setting for me still looks slightly blur and though the viewfinder and it's hard to make out the shooting info below in yellow. Any ideas what's the problem?

Try focus using the camera with lens to auto focus first on a single subject, once the camera lock on, then adjusting your diopter. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the tip! This method work :)

Seems like I run into a lot of problems. Now my sandisk memory card giving problem. The camera will always say "no sd card" and I have to remove and re-insert it several times during a shoot :(

Reformat the card or else exchange it with the shop

anyone contact Nikon Service Center regarding the SD card issue before?

No luck with formatting the card using the camera. Still got intermittent cannot detect sd card. Looks like I'll have to pay a visit to slrr. Hopefully they are nice and will do an exchange.

Once in awhile I get this prob. What I do is leave camera on.
Set it to opt viewfinder mode eject and insert the card again. Don't know whether this prob is isolated to sandisk cards or bother brand alsp problem

The shop refused to replace my sandisk memory card and directed me to the sandisk service centre instead. I'm starting to wonder does this brand of memory card have a tendency to be problematic on this camera? Anyway I discovered K13 and Cathay Photo and really good places to go if you're looking for a camera bag.

which shop refuse your exchange? although its a "free gift", its still part of your deal, you pay for it, you have the right to exchange for it...

on a side note, some of my friends have no problem using the sandisk card, however my friend say "white" sandisk card will not cause any problem... anyone heard of such thing?

and another thing... I don't think The free Sandisk card has vector magnetic sticker on it, so even your send to them for repair, they will bo chap u as its not their product...

The shop is SLRR and the memory card that is giving me problem is an additional one that I bought and not the free gift. The free gift is a Sony 8GB which works perfectly. I bought another card which is Sandisk Extreme class10 16GB. I don't have the packaging anymore but I kept the plastic case that came with it.

Is the the Sandisk 8gb speed 4 card? I use to use that on my d5100. Never had any problem with it since day one. Maybe its a defective card eh.

The one I have is class 10. Strangely my sd card reader for computer seems to have no problem reading it but can't be something wrong with the sd card slot on my D5100 because it can read my 3 other cards without problem (they are all class 4 btw). Maybe class 10 not designed for use on D5100 ?
