Anybody have battery for D5100? Where can i buy from? What is the price range.... oh ya.. need to ask, previously i saw a guy holding a camera, i assumed that is a D3X/D3S, but when i when closer, i realized that is just a D700, because the camera looks so big like the D3X/D3S as mentioned... but what is the stuff that connected below the camera? The whole camera look so big...

The easiest feature to look out for in the pro series (meaning D1, D2, D3 blah blah) is the position of the model name. If I didn't remember wrongly, to easily differentiate from other camera bodies with grip, the D3(s) word can only appear at the top of the camera, at the side where the grip is. If it's a D700 or any other model, the model name will appear on the other side where the mode selector is.

Battery grip? Most dslrs offer u this extra grip so that u can hold the camera in a natural position when shooting portrait. There's also the extra battery u can place in it n in some models, it enhances the camera's functions (higher fps)

Oh is it? Thanks for the info..

Check Phottix brand

I got the original original ML-L3 IR remote and the 3rd party remote cable release. Do take note the connector of the 3rd party may not fit well on the camera. My 3rd remote cable fit very tightly on the camera, I try the original remote cable release in the shop and it fits very very well....

ML-L3 IR remote cost S$18 but limited function but it works just nice for me. I got the remote cable release is for fireworks and birding

Why does the ML-L3 have limited functions?

Why does the ML-L3 have limited functions?

The limited function is that you need to set your camera to remote mode to link with ML-L3 and depends on your setting in the camera, if your camera is idle for more than 15 mins, it will switch off and go back to normal shooting mode. Then if there is another person using the same remote standing beside you, he can control your camera also... hahaha

But see your needs, i got the phottix remote for my D700, i hardly used it on my D700 as i prefer my wired remote cable where the responds is instantaneous.

But again, for D5100, if it is for family outing or self shooting, the ML-L3 may be enough. Do check out the distance you need to be in within the camera when using ML-L3. Well, it only cost S$18 dollars compared to the more expensive 3rd party Phottix range which cost more than S$50....

Thanks for the enlightenment!! I did not know about the first point as I'm not using a D5100. I have experienced the 2nd problem myself, I was changing my settings and my friend triggered my camera when he was triggering his :bsmilie:

How come Phottix costs more than ML-L3? Shouldn't third party be cheaper?

Becos ML-L3 requires line of sight with the IR sensor but the Phottix Cleon(I assumed) works over radio wave. U can fire from any direction within range.

Yup.... as for ML-L3, you need to set your camera to REMOTE mode. You can only do single shot each time or bulb mode.

Really have to depends on what you want.

Hi,

Looking for help ,

I own this camera and i know that there is no on board camera function which can trigger a flash wirelessly.

I'm looking for a wireless trigger that is placed on the hot shoe to trigger off my sb-800 flash, so that i can hold the
camera in one hand and the flash in the other.

Is there such a device if there is what brand? model is it?
Could anyone suggest me some brands so i can do some research on it?

Appreciate the help.
THanks.
