Guys... try to play more on the A, S, M mode.... Do not keep using the scenic mode, you probably will learn less if you keep using scenic mode.

The camera should work with any brand of card, not just sandisk

If really want to make sure, try to use approve memory cards in the manual

Evil, your cup of tea may not be others cup of tea... :bsmilie:

Try out your kit lets first.... enjoy... see with you lack of then decide whether to buy or not... times are bad now... need to save more money.
Hehehe...
Actually I could not buy both so trying to get other friends to buy the duo ;)

I only have the 50 but at times I wish I had a bit more wider where there is less moving space.

I got myself a sandisk 16GB extreme at comex. About 50+
Suitable for HD video.

Believe this is one of the better ones for my D5100 out there.

Argg.. I am having the same card problem. After a few shots, it will say no sd card inserted. Im using the free blue 8gb sandisk card given. Formatted the card with the cam a few times but problem still occurs. Card problem??? So i got to get another card???

Hi, Just bought the d5100 from comex and have the same sd card problem. But when I use the transcend 8 GB class
10 sd card, it works well, no problem.

I think this may be the camera default problem as so many user here faces the same issue.

Most brand mm face the same problem with this D5100.

Agree... My camera has always been stuck on "A" mode, not Auto but "Aperture Priority" ;)

When I first got my dslr, I set it to scene mode. I chose the scenes depending on where I am. After about 2 weeks of getting comfortable shooting with a dslr, I switched to AP. When u can't get any pics that I want, I switch back to scene, then looked at the settings, switch to AP, set the settings n try shooting again. Over time, you'll get used to setting up your camera. That's how I learned. Sharing so that you guys can try his method too.

Btw, I'm still learning. Now playing around with S mode n I juz realized I haven't used scene mode for at least 3mths. I'm abt 6mths old with my dslr. ;)

Thanks for the tip....
I also wanna try those modes :)
Wow, I didn't know there's cases of unable to read the sd card...
I just insert and format mine, so far never prompt me anything.

so far for me i've been using Aperture mode since i get hold of my cam haha..

I also prefer using AP mode most of the time otherwise fustrated and used "Auto"... =X
when using AP, do u just change the aperture, ISO, white balance or there's more settings to change?

Might as well you go buy Sony C3 or panasonic gf3 . I think suits u better and importantly is of much smaller size , unless u love big size.

Under Aperture mode and outdoor day time, usually I would touch on Aperture and ISO only, sometimes i would touch on WB too. Indoor, i would touch a lot in aperture, ISO and WB as the lightings are tricky.

Maybe those who experience memory card problem should drop an email to Nikon to feedback your concern. They should be able to advise well.

Hi guys,

Just want to ask a curious qn about D5100. Does D5100 have an interval timer mode? i.e. able to take pic at certain time interval just like the D7000. My friend was thinking to buy 1 so was checking it out.

Thanks in advance

Yes there is interval timer shooting available on the D5100.
