AF-A, AF-S, AF-C doesn't matter.

It is the AF Area Modes that is the one to set.

1) Auto-Area [Can set]
2) Single Point [Can set]
3) Dynamic Area [Don't know]
4) 3D [Can set]

Hope this helps!

Just got this camera a few days ago from Parisilk for $995 cash. Comes with 8 gig sd card, a small Nikon cam bag( no trollry bag ), Nikon tripod. Nikon SD card reader and cleaning kit. Original battery $65. Like this camera but the battery latch is very flmsy. Latch came out the 3rd time I opened it but the lach door hinge was not damaged and can be put back. Need extra caution to open it. Just lift the latch up gently and slowly with the thumb.

Forgot to mention. It comes with the 18-55mm lens.

Went to the Botanical Gardens this morning. Saw quite a few groups of people walking around with DSLRs. Perhaps there were photo-walks being organized.

Believe it or not, I took more photos of people (largely children) and animals (largely dogs) than flowers or trees or even landscape. Out of about 100 shots, only about 15 are flowers and trees.

Really liked the kit lens. Especially when the cute dogs come very close to u and you wont be able to resist taking pictures of them when up close!

Joined the club~~ jus get mine from tk foto.. $999, freebies, 8G card, card reader, cleaning kit, nikon bag, tripod, phottix remote control, think tank pixel pocket rocket n screen protector.. =D

Thinking of getting 35mm 1.8G lens..

More people are into photography now. Today went to shoot fireworks, reach the location at around 6pm and the place is almost taken up. Luckily got a nice person to let me squeeze in a bit. I like the 18-55mm VR kit lens, it is much sharper than 2 previous 18-55mm kit lens, but it is still slower than the first generation 18-55mm kit lens. Luckily never sell off the kit lens... heng...

Who served you in tk? I want this package too!

Which spot did u shoot from?

My tip for other feature like miniture mode etc, try doing it after taking the shots & process on the body. That will be easier than doing it during the shooting.

e.g. Colour Sketch feature

Isn't this shot done at the canal behind Yew Tee?

I got a question regarding the D5100 and the tripod.

Here's the thing. (Let me try my best to put it in words)
On the tripod there is a screw that fits on the bottom of D5100 that is suppose to secure the camera to the tripod (nikon tripod or any tripod).

On the tripod there is also this small protruding thing (just next to the screw) that is , from what i know, suppose to be inserted into a hole under the camera,
but there is non on the D5100. When you press on it , it sunkens.

Is there suppose to be another sort of ledge or attachment before mounting it to the tripod?

The screw itself works but it does not seem to secure the camera firmly.

I hope i explained it correctly and i'm wondering. Cause my camera almost fell when i shifted the tripod with it.

Think can ignore the thing beside the screw...

What tripod you using? How come the screw can come loose one?

The nikon tripod that they give for free.

Isn't that thing beside the screw suppose to go into the hole of the camera?

I was trying to turn the camera to the left or right (that was when it almost fell), that tripod can't seem to turn clockwise and anti clockwise...hmm..just up and down.

U can ignore that protruding thing on the tripod as the D5100 has no use for that.

Did u ensure that u screwed the camera to the tripod securely?? (the screw goes into the 'hole' of the camera, not that protuding thing. Screw till u cant screw in anymore)

I havent had the freebie tripod before, but i think that tripod has a pan-head.. u arent suppose to be turning the camera nor the tripod.. just turn the handle and pan the camera..
