Btw, is there any way to LOCK the aperture for Videos? Other than using primes or fixed aperture lenses?
Not too sure of this but wouldn't shooting in A or M mode locks aperture? Maybe it will be the same in video?

Sad to say, I will stay away from those converter....
If I need wide angle I will get a UWA lens
And if I need macro of cos a Macro Lens
UWA stands for ultra wide angle lens. Typically used for landscape and architecture. UWAs can be quite expensive, maybe around $1000 brand new.Ok, what does UWA stand for? Other then quality what are other differences, and for a average UWA what is the price range? I take landscape and night scenery, is it better to have a UWA? What is the recommended brand?

Have got an quote from MS color.
Nikon D5100 kit with 18-55mm VR -- $990 free 8gb card, nikon bag plus 15 mth agent warranty, is it an good deal?
was intending to get an tripod also, as it is good for me and my wife to take photo together.
supposedly DS5100 doesn't have the inbuilt AF motor. i tried to Google for 18-55mm Vr, it does have an AF-S function right?

Yup, Ultra Wide Angle.
Hmm not necessary to have a UWA lens.. sometime a simple kit lens can do the job. For me a simple and cheap Tamron 17-50 will do the job, not necessary to have a UWA =)..
So it's totally up to you. as for brand wise.. there are sigma tokina tamron and of cos nikon.. just do a little reseach on the review and compare =)

There are quite a number of things to take note when buying UWA lens, things like the distortions, sharpness on corners etc....

Sounds like you've been at TK Foto. It's a good price, especially if you want a grip and remote control.
Most shops selling the kit + 8gb and bag at $990+
Btw, it was about $20 cheaper before the thailand floods.
iamthatman said:Yep its a quote from TK. Thanks
But actually i guess most packages should be similar now, only the freebies differ. Price range is around there too. Might need to go to funan to do a price check at various shops.
Thnx
