Hi star, apparently yes. i doesnt seems to be able to source for BG for D5100 that doesnt need the cable. but if u dont intend to use the vertical grip shutter button den u dun have to use the cable. :))

Very nice. U usng tripod? Very sharp ur images. So far i take photos. Handheld. Its good but not until like that. U got tweak ur pic control settings or u using default settings

All using handheld VR2 turned on 16-85mm DX. I am no expert photographer so on D5100 just set auto-ISO min 1600 (I can accept) and shutter speed 1/125. See , point and shoot in RAW

Actually can use View NX 2 to tweak (there is an option called DS Lighting, set at 10 to 15 works wonders) if on budget. But above all use Photoshop which is very much better than View NX in sharpening images.

DM101 - Solid photos...!!!

Hi all, after months reading the posts and forum, i have decided to log myself in and make my presence known! Though the 5100 is an entry level camera but the IQ is quite good! Am loving it! :)

got a ques. how different in terms of performance btw 55-200mm f4-5.6 ED AFS DX and VR IF ED? I know the latter is IF, internal focusing. I started my photography a few months back. now itching to get this one. seniors?

I would definitely go for the 55-200 VR because VR is quite important and can help you to get a steady shot at 200mm. The one without VR means that you probably will be using higher ISO to get a steady shot when zoomed in :)

Save a bit bit more... get the 55-300mm VR... more worth the money....
