sad to say i disagree with you on that
technology is changing at breakneck speed
and even with a D2Xs you will want to change another body when the technology changes
take for example the short time frame of the release of the D200 and the D80
noise control has improved
power usage has improved
the only thing the D200 has over the D80 is the weather sealing and the 5fps shooting
btw i was talking about a new SB800 and not a "basic level of flashguns"
Yes ortega, I agree. But D200 seems to quicker access to functions to me, though the battery life is terrible.
To me, there are two classes of Digital SLRs, the pro class and the consumer class. The D40(x), D80 belong in the consumer class, while the D200 and D2x(s) belong in the pro class. (The D2H(s), in my opinion, is in a market of its own). There are connectors the consumer class is unable to use, among other things. Differences are not very obvious when you pick up your camera the first time, but after a while you will start realising where its limitations are.
For most users, I hink they will not require the raw speed of the pro class, or the specialied connectors for shutter releases etc (Though I love the ML L3 infared remote ;p). The D80, will do for them.
But what if those consumers desire to have something more once they've reached the pinnacle of the D80's capabilities? They will have to buy a new body, one in the pro class. In the case of the D200, there will be no such need.
Technology is improving at a very quick rate, but I don't think you'd buy a new camera every year.
That said, with the info Ortega has given to me about the D80's new price, which seems to be only $250 more than the D40x, I have to admit it sounds like a good buy.
To anyone who has been offended by my words in the past threads, I apologize. I was just posting my opinions. Never meant to offend anyone. If you are happy with the camera you are holding in your hand, so be it, I never intended to get into a fight with anyone over it.
