In this modern technological world, mobile phones, laptops, and any electronic stuff, have a life span of 3-5 years... so... it does make sense to get new technology, but the price would be a big consideration... a whopping $2700!

3-5 years? More like 2-3 years! It's just that my skills isn't proportionate to this growth!:bsmilie:

Anyone using an ultra wide angle on a D40? for e.g sigma 10-20mm lens.. or tokina 12-24 mm...? if so anyone have any experience using polarizers with ur lens?

the tokina 12-24 cannot AF on the D40, the sigma can, so can the nikkor.
i use a sigma 12-24

Same same... the value of a new technology would last longer than an older technology.

Then would you sell me your D200? ;p
I need a compromise between monster D2x and mouse D40

by then if you are still interested in the d200, and not pursue the tempting d300/d3.. we'll talk ;)

"by then"... lol.. says alot

:P might not be releasing my gear till the d300 stabilizes in the local market though..

else i wont have a camera to shoot

but my d80 should be on for sale real soon.

had reserved for someone last sunday/monday but he DIDNT TURN UP to collect.. decided not to pursue.

no lah... i still miss the d40.. i definitely miss the super usable iso1600 shots from the d40..

on a 10mp sensor.. sometimes pixel peeping is disappointing, whereas peeping a 6mp pic.. everything is usable from 100% crop

i forgot to add that this vertical grip looks interesting, but how does the vertical shutter fire?

are there inherent connections inside the d40 body's battery compartment, where by data pins can be connected, so that you can adjust aperture/shutter settings via rotating the dials on the grip, and fire the shutter? how abt af and ae lock? so far from what i have seen in the d40 there is no such connection pins sockets inside.

if its designed to use the IR function, you might not be able to burst on the vertical shutter.

i had seen a version of the grip before in the states, but it was only a power grip, i.e. 2 batts thats all.

do check before you commit to your purchase

Is the bought in japan set made in japan or thailand? thanks.

Should be Thailand also. It doesn't make $en$e to operate identical lines in both places.

the weird thing was I saw a D40 in a white box, selling with the 55-200mm as a kit. (55-200mm not the VR version). Words on the box is japanese. Shop is a dodgy shop to me.

In other countries, there are other types of bundle available.
