Yeah, this guy believes in going commando-style! ;)
But it's up to individual... I prefer to have a UV filter.

Like that call commando ah ;p
Aiyoh.. a press photographer's lens and camera are subjected to much more stress than a casual shooter, or even a wedding photographer. (Esp if there is bodyguards after you! :bsmilie)
If nothing happens to me (On a serious note, you really need alot of force to scratch Nikon glass) I don't see why anything should happen to you (looking at the way I treat my camera and stuff)

But if it makes you feel safer, go ahead. ;)

do you know how much I can sell the Nikon bag included in the package? it's too big for me. I think it can fit D40 kit + 3-4 lenses and flash.

I need smallest one that can fit D40 kit and 55-200 lens. Crumpler 2 million dollar can? or any suggestions?

Might as well get 7million. U have space for other accessories eg; books, MP3, wallet, extra clothes

both. you need the filter while shooting and cap while storing.

ok thanks

i will prob get a cheapo brand like hoya or tokina

btw, the D40 doesn't allow more than 1 filter on at a time right?

not too sure but most people sell it for $20+ in buy and sell

the number of filters that you can stack is limited to:

(1) filter, whether there are threads on both sides (assuming you are using screw-in type).
(2) vignetting, which might occurs when you are using wide angle lens at the wide end

if you are using your kit lens, a UV/ND with a CPL is not an issue. it is not determined by the camera type that you are using though.

Been using the D40 + SB600 since March and still cant get the hang of it.
I just can't eem to get good pictures in full auto mode.

Just got the a Stein Zeiser (?) UV filter .... ? cant find anythignabout it on the internet.

I will need another lens for more zoom power.
Should I get one of the extender lenses like the Hi-V or get a proper Nikon lens for the camera

Jag

ps
need to sell off my F65 + extra lens .... any takers ?

proper nikon lens for the camera!! dont bother with extenders and magnifiers as of yet.

Steinzeiser is a.. hmm i dunno..*cough cough* :) i went to peninsula and some shops kept pushing stein stuff to me when i was looking for a specific brand.

Just an advice: Don't go for the smallest one. Go for one with adequate room to grow (eg. 5 Million Dollar). You'd never know when you need the extra space, maybe not now, but very likely in the near future.

I'm using a 7million with my D40 with 18-135mm always on and in bag, got 55-200mm VR, spare battery, SB-400, memory cards, lenspen, cloth, filters and the works.

^ 7 million is just right for your stuffs or still plenty of space left?

7MD Home? Should be plenty of space lah! I carry my D40 with 18-70mm, handphones, cigs and stuffs in my 5MD Home!

my new cam have 2 stuck pixels on LCD, 1 red and 1 blue. can exchange already?

:embrass: hello guys :D hey can i take a look @ picture taken by nikon D40 @ ISO 1600?? any idea where can i take a look ? ;p

i had some somewhere.. later i'll dig it out..

you can say i was never worried about using iso1600 :)~

I am always using ISO 1600, coz I'm shooting my dogs... find it a lil blur/grainy when enlarged.
