In terms of absolute image quality the D300S doesn't offer much improvement over older models such as the Nikon D200 or D300. Its noise performance is good, but not as good as full-frame cameras such as the D700 or Canon 5D MK II. But it will probably be faster than your current body and the inclusion of HD video recording is something we think you'll grow to love.

I don't think current D300 users will upgrade to D300s, unless u need a video. if not, i don't see a point.

Well, save your money to get more lens.

From the review, it seems like the boy is abt 2.6k ... :(

Yap agree!

Another S$800++ only can buy a D700!

Hai yah..... Sain!:(

Actually it might cost more than that if you are using a DX kit lens, since you probably need to buy a FX standard zoom lens + wide angle (if you are, like me, gotten one of the Tokina or Sigma DX class wide angles hehe).

Sigh, if this is gonna be over 2.5K im so digging the D700 hands DOWN! :cry:

seriously.

u guys should stop speculating about the prices of equipment. it doesnt make any difference if its 2688 or 2700 or 2788. difference between 2688 and 2788 is not even 4%. if you can afford a D700 comfortably, go for it. if you can get the D700 and have only 50 bucks left in the bank, think about it again. is it really worth breaking the bank over?

during initial launch (day zer0 to day 60 estimated) prices will always be high.
2 months after launch, prices will start to dip. how far a dip, it depends. everything happens this way.
if you are insistent on obtaining it once its launched, be expected to pay a premium for it for being one of the early adopters. take this additional premium gracefully.

if you guys are so concerned about prices, where is the fun in photography. its supposed to be an enjoyable thing, not a stock market. get it if its WITHIN your COMFORTABLE means. otherwise, get something lesser.
