the RRP prices in japan is approx 15% higher. Therefore based on the RRP jap price of S$2895, our rrp here should be around S$2460 to 2500. based on a average discount of 10% offered by the shops I would estimate the street price of S$2200+/-. Quite reasonable I think. Just my guestimation.

My guess is that, Singapore price will be S$2600 +/- 100 for the D300s body. It will not be to high to discourage consumers, and too low to have a lesser profit ;)

But if the current D300 body will go down to S$2000 or lesser, that will be very tempting

wah! only D50/D60 can upgrade.
Im holding D80 since june 2007. Can I upgrade also ... ?

Holding on to a D50. I don't think I need to upgrade leh.

Hay Chef

Interesting arsenal of equipment you have got. Hay I notice among the expensive equipment you have, the N55-200 is still there. You ever use it again? I love that lens of mine but never use it again after I got the 16-85.

This will be available in USA on 28th August...

Adds D-Movie, stereo audio, to a fine camera....

Will ponder if this or the D90 is for me...

If you need a higher FPS, or needs metering with non-CPU lenses, or needs stereo sound for D-Movie, or 51pt AF, this is for you.

If you need something lighter, or want cheap IR remote release, D90 is good for you. You could even reuse the MB-D80 if you already have one.

Hum….

When Singapore start to launch?

How much will it cost?:dunno:

After my 55km hike in NZ, I treasure a light weight, but also protection against the elements.
The D90 was a natural progression, and allows me to keep my MD D80 and batteries etc. But I like the weather-resistance...

The lack of availability of the D90 is another bear bug.

You can reuse the batteries for D300/s too.. ;p

The Nikon guys reckon 1st week of September, but no price yet...
If you recall the original price of the D300 - $23xx, I am assuming it will not be too far from that.
Thats about 1k more than the D90, plus the extra 200g or so...

Mahnn, im so waiting for the D300s. Hope it wont be too expensive tho. Do you guys think there will be much stock coming in the first batch? And will price drop with the second batch to arrive?

there's more than enough reasons to believe that the D300s will be more than $23xx. Unless Nikon is stopping production of D300 immediately and manage to finish selling all D300, selling it at same price as D300 will effectively leave them with plenty of stock on hand.

who in the right mind will do that?

Because the current price of the D 300 is now $2050 with GST?

We are not talking a world of difference. Of course the first batch might cost more simply because some are wealthy enough to feed their "gotta have" needs.

But once that dies down and the older model is sold off, Nikon needs to fit the main battle with Canon and cannot price it too far from their competitors...

Of course since I do not work for them and the price is still not out yet, this is all speculation.

Cheers

the way i see it, D300s is not a segment that Nikon is competing with Canon.

Most of Nikon users are loyalist. theD300, D700 are targeted more at this group. This group of user already have some investment on Nikon glass, so they wouldn't jump ship to Canon so easily.

Whereas the D5000, D3000 and up to D90 are more targeted at new Nikon owners or beginners.

this is the segment that Nikon are fighting with Canon. Just my 2 cents.

Nikon Singapore may have enough stock for the first few months but Nikon Singapore will not transmit most of their D300s to the local shops.:(

:think:So I don’t think the Local Shops will have many stocks and some of the local shops will not bring in for sale due to cleaning off the old D300 stocks.

Adorama sells the D300s body for 1,799.95USD, that's around 2,613.03 SGD and will be available end of August.
Check here: http://www.adorama.com/INKD300S.html

However, I am waiting for D300 price to drop when this new D300s will be available
