hmm, looks like they will never be able to allow the D300 to automatically sense the color gels used on the sb-900 like what d3 or d700 can...

Hopefully they have a change of mind and include that in the next update.

Check if you have put the firmware at the right level. Remember to put only the A firmware v1.10 first at the top-most level in the card. You should be able to see the "Update" option available. After updating A firmware, delete it and put in only B firmware v1.10 also at the top-most level, if using the same card.

Oh Thanks:thumbsup:... All i did was not to place the files in any folders... just on the memory card itself and not in any folders... upgraded... can't wait to test it out... :bsmilie:

Thanks for the info! just updated my cam. need to take some shots to see the improvements

The algorithm for contrast detection AF in LV is 'improved' to be much faster. However, now my Sigma lens is no longer as sharp as it could be with the old algorithm... No problems with Nikkors though..

What it does now is to focus past the in focus point and then back track slowly. The Sigma lens had some play (looseness) so the back tracking is not precise.

Updated mine as well. Taken few test shot. AF slightly faster & Auto WB seem to have improved.

hmm i updated mine yesterday
after i finished updating,i took a test shot
i almost fainted because the pic's white balance was totally off!
the whole pic was magentaish
i thought i did something wrong so i turn it off and on again and it was fine
strange

Updated mine as well. Noticed that the first shot that I took, the LCD turned out nothing (black) during review. The info captured showed aperture and focal length as --. Turned off and on again, and it was ok.

Just for info.

As stated on Nikon site, need to turn off & on the camera after firmware update.

I also noticed that my tammy is no longer tack sharp as it was before upgrading the firmware:confused: maybe need to fine tune my lens again? anyway i noticed an improvement with the whitebalance specially under flourescent lighting;)

I found that after the firmware update, the AF is more accurate. What I mean by that is that what used to be AF Fine Tuning at +10 is now at +5 to +7. I had to do a AF Fine Tuning with all my lenses again, and found that I had to adjust it to lesser amounts than before... and that is a change I've noticed.

Arrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh...... :(

Tks for the update!

Cheers!

ahahahaa
tune again:bsmilie:

Sigh... when I have time.. and I think I really need to find time.. No wonder my images doesn't seem as sharp in my recent shoot. Still acceptable but just not as sharp as I expected them to be.

Do you guys feel that AWB is greatly improved? I find that mine worsen.:(
The image rendition is not as good as previous version too. Anyone have these issues?
Anyway, check with you guys, does resetting of camera factory settings revert back firmware version to initial factory version? Please advise

I find the AWB to be more accurate with the new firmware.

No, resetting to factory setting will not revert to the older firmware version.

Thanks Randius. Then no point trying. later still have spend some time setting back to my customed settings. Looks like no way to revert back.
