hi just curious,

there's isn't curve to load in D300?
and anywan here on D-lighting?

curve can be loaded using capture NX. Export it to CF card, then load to camera;p

My average shots out of a full charged battery last me around 600 shots only. This is true for both of my EN-EL3e. What's you guy's average shot?

My settings:
Quality: Jpeg Large, Fine
Active D-lighting: off
AF Single servo, single point AF, 51 points
Built-in AF assist illuminator: off
Metering off delay: 6sec
Monitor delay: 20sec
Beep: off
Live view not activated
CMOS cleaning: off
Flash 90% off
Using AFS non VR lens
Auto review image: off
(though i review every images after shot + playback zooming 90% of the time)

Did you review your images as much as I do?

My EN-EL3e lasted about 800 shots per charge. Sensor cleaning when camera is turned off, using an 18-200mm VR most of the time, and without flash. I review the images around once every 10 shots. Yours should be pretty normal, given that you review your images after every shot.

Thanks everyone for the inputs.

Let me try if I can reduce on the reviewing times to see if there's any improvement in batery life.

It's hard to change this habbit.

i dunno how it behaves on the d300. however, on nikonians.org, the reviewers rate the lens the best bang-for-buck, a little higher than the AFS 12-24.

I think if you are comfortable with the 18-200 you should really be comfortable with the Tokina too.

Got mine from Image marketing Lucky Plaza $2600 incl GST. Capture NX1.3 bundled. Still learning the features. Upgraded from D40 so relatively steep learning curve. Got spare original batt for $55. Is this cheap?
